Introduction

As you know, we always have an ear to the ground to make sure we are up to date with any wedding-world news and we have to tell you that something VERY exciting is coming; you heard it here first! A brand-spanking new venue is coming to Nottingham and is set to be the place to be...Upstairs at Cleaver and Wake will be part of an innovative development taking place on the outskirts of Nottingham City Centre; The Island Quarter is the biggest mixed-use development in Nottingham and will reimagine a 36-acre area to create a public paradise.

First up in the masterplan is the beautiful building which is being lovingly renovated and will host two new exciting restaurants: Binks Yard and Cleaver & Wake. Foodies, listen up as this one is for you! Named after two Victorian lace dressers who worked on the edge of the original site, Cleaver & Wake will serve refined dishes using the best meat, fish and veg from across the British Isles. Here is the most exciting bit, the restaurant will be led by Chef Laurence Henry, winner of MasterChef: The Professionals in 2018 so you can expect a modern, elevated dining experience and some thoroughly good scan!

But what has this got to do with weddings, we hear you cry?

Well directly above the restaurant is a dedicated function space, Upstairs at Cleaver & Wake, which includes a welcome bar area and an open plan function space with capacity of 120 in the daytime and 200 in the evening. Benefitting from contemporary interior design, oversized signature arched windows and elegantly high ceiling, this will be unique and special space to say your “I dos” and celebrate in style with exceptional food and drink; sounds good doesn’t it!
