Within the red brick walls of the undeniably characterful BeehiveWorks (a cutlery works within Sheffield City Centre), you will find bespoke bridal designer, Kate Beaumont; most likely sketching or sewing and in the process of creating understatedly beautiful wedding gowns.

Using the finest quality silks, English tulles, and English and French laces, all of Kate’s collections are made, by hand, right there in the studio; their ethos really is the antithesis of fast fashion.

With a clear signature style, Kate creates capsule collections annually, all of which are exclusively available to be viewed and tried on within the studio which is uniquely split in two; part bridal studio with the workshop right next door.

A visit to the studio usually consists of a private consultation lasting about an hour-and-a-half. It’s a relaxed and friendly space with the aim to aid and support you in making your decision and to really nurture a feeling of comfort and confidence.

Wanting to ensure the collections were as accessible as possible, Kate has recently created the Curve Collection. Kate said “As a tiny business making an expensive product from luxury fabrics, it has always been difficult to absorb the high material and time costs involved in creating multiple sizes in sample dresses.“

“However, I’m a firm believer that my designs work on women of all shapes and sizes, and so it’s been a real pleasure to finally create a selection of our existing styles in a larger dress size.

We’ve picked out dresses that work beautifully on fuller figures and have reworked the design details in places to show off different possibilities – changing sleeves or necklines, sometimes presenting a new colour or fabric combination for example”

And this really is the joy of working with a small designer offering bespoke options; you are able to tweak and play, mix and match your favourite elements from multiple pieces and work with Kate to create something unique to you; Kate calls her dresses heirloom pieces and we can’t help but agree...
