A Relaxed, Sunshine-Filled Spring Celebration
Robin and Emma had a super relaxed and fun wedding day in spring, with plenty of sunshine and a sprinkling of glitz and glamour. Sounds rather wonderful, doesn't it? The glorious weather provided the perfect backdrop to their beautiful venue, so the couple could make the most of their exclusive-use courtyard throughout their celebration.
The newlyweds chose their own caterers and made use of Dodmoor's unlimited drinks package, which included a cheeky gin bar! Arcade games provided much of the fun in the reception, including air hockey, table football and a skittles alley, all played to the amazing sounds of a string quartet.
The evening was kicked started with sparklers at sunset and continued with a full dance-floor with some impressing moves late into the night! Take a peek at their fabulously fun wedding day...
TELL US ABOUT YOUR VENUE...
“Dodmoor House was the perfect setting for our wedding. We just got the “right feeling” the first time we visited for a viewing and we never once questioned our decision in booking the venue. The whole team at Dodmoor were amazing and nothing was ever too much trouble. The communication was outstanding from the beginning to even now two months after the wedding day.
Being able to choose our own caterers was a massive plus for us, as well as being able to choose either their different drinks package options, or to bring our own drinks with no corkage. The venue has two barns to hold all the wedding activities and they are completely flexible on how you set them up on the day, as well as having a beautiful third barn that can be used for bridal preparations in the morning and also a gorgeous honeymoon suite on the night of the wedding complete with breakfast in bed the next day!”
DESCRIBE THE STYLE OF YOUR WEDDING...
Very relaxed and fun was the aim!
Dodmoor is already very pretty so not much was needed for decoration. We had mixed paper lanterns in the barn where we ate/had the evening party and we chose to have long banqueting style tables for the wedding breakfast, which were decorated with table runners of foliage from our florist and candles of different heights.
Napkins were folded by us and tied with rose gold ribbon with guest names hung from it. Copper pipe table name holders were used (supplied by Booze bath and Beyond).
“Our main colours were navy for the groom’s party with dusky pink ruche ties. Blush pink/rose gold for the bridesmaids.
Flowers were more muted pinks, cream and lots of different foliage again (a lot of which was chosen based upon texture and smell e.g. eucalyptus, rosemary), Emma also had thistles in her bouquet as a nod to Scottish heritage. The same foliage and thistles were used on the ends of the rows for the ceremony too.
Big emphasis on the wedding cake – semi naked with gold leaf detail and fresh flowers from the florist. It was displayed on a large whiskey barrel, with foliage and tea lights on top (just under the cake as it sat on a stand)
DIY and “quirky” elements included a “who’s who” wooden pallet – polaroid photos of all guests with a brief description of how we know them under the photo (as we have lots of different groups of friends), the photos were paperclip onto pink spring attached to the pallet, with copper string lights weaved in and out of the rows on the pallet.
We also created a “memory display” made up of various wooden crates decorated with tea lights/copper lanterns and more foliage from the florist and photos of loved ones no longer with us in copper photo frames, with descriptions of their names and who they are.”
WHAT DID YOU ALL WEAR?
Bridesmaids: taupe/blush/rose gold sequin dresses and rose gold heels.
Rob and grooms party – navy slim fit tails from Slaters Hire (Rob had ivory waistcoat and ruche tie, the rest had navy waistcoat and dusky pink ruche ties)
The bridesmaid dresses were the first thing Emma bought and so the colours fit around them! It was also the perfect colour pallet for a spring wedding.”
WHAT DID EVERYBODY EAT & DRINK?
“Reception drinks (though to the end of the meal) – Dodmoor’s Diamond Drinks Package: unlimited drinks including a gin bar. (lots of drinks to choose from to form your package but we choose prosecco, pimms, peroni, various soft drinks)
We also provided bottles of ales on a no corkage basis due to preferences of many of our guests.
Food: 5 item BBQ with a variety of salads provided by The Arden Pig Company.
Ice cream cart set up in the courtyard for dessert – we had a choice of 7 flavours – both ice cream and sorbets, with cones or cups. Unlimited for 2 hours. Provided by Lucky Cow Ice Cream.
Evening food: Wood fired pizzas – 5 options, again completely up us to decide on a menu of toppings. This was a massive hit and one of our most talked about compliments from the day! Provided by The Wood Fired Pizza Company.”
HOW DID YOU ENTERTAIN YOUR GUESTS?
“String quartet to provide music for the ceremony and drinks reception.
Arcade style games – table football, skittle alley and air hockey – these were in constant use! Guests of all ages loved them.
‘Magic Mirror‘ – Photo Booth in the evening, again another big hit!”
ANY WORDS OF ADVICE FOR FUTURE COUPLES?
“Be true to yourself as a couple and make sure it’s the day you want. You can spend hours trying to make other people happy and still not everyone will be satisfied. They are they to celebrate the two of you and your special day, so make sure you don’t have any regrets in not having what you want!”
