OUR WEDDING THEME WAS THE EPITOME OF ENGLISH ROMANCE…

“In terms of the inspiration behind the wedding we never really had a strong idea, and toyed with many options from pub hire to castles. Neither of us enjoyed making the multitude of decisions that came with wedding planning, so we tried to keep things manageable for ourselves and make sure that as we added elements that were all in keeping with each other and so it grew organically. We never set out with a theme or a plan, although it ended up being sort of romantic and English.”

WE HAD A NUMBER OF TALENTED WEDDING SUPPLIERS…

“As such, the style was led by larger investments of the venue and my dress. I was torn between a more clean, contemporary dress, but ultimately went for something more traditional because when else do you get the chance to wear something like that?! We found both Grace and Mitch from Grace Elizabeth Photo & Film and Louise from Number 27 Floral Design on Instagram and feel so lucky that we did! We were blown away with Louise’s style – I don’t think she’s ever done any florals I didn’t love.

We didn’t formally decide on a colour scheme as such, but I felt that dusty colours would work well for the bridesmaid’s dresses and then we gave these colours to Louise so she could incorporate them into the bouquets. I didn’t want anything to look overly “matchy”, so the bridesmaids chose any dress they wanted so long as they were full length and in chiffon fabric.”

NORWOOD PARK IS A BEAUTIFUL VENUE…

“We decided to keep the tables really simple – again partly due to budgets, but also because I’m not very crafty at all! We actually used the bridesmaids bouquets as table centres (and commissioned a few extras) and Louise sourced the vases for just a few pounds each from a wholesaler. Again, we lucked out with Norwood Park as it’s such a beautiful venue anyway and we really liked how it looked with just clean, white table linens.”

WE WANTED A RELAXED, INTIMATE FEEL…

“We had 72 guests for both the ceremony and evening meal. We decided that if we wanted someone at our wedding at all then we would want them to attend for the whole day, rather than just as an evening guest. We were very strict on the guest list and didn’t give into pressure to invite distant relatives – partly down to our budget but also to create and preserve the relaxed, intimate feel that we wanted. It worked really well, as everyone there were people we were very close to and knew us well which created a lovely atmosphere.”
