Sarah & Simon
Due to marry on 26th June 2020, Sarah and Simon were on an emotional rollercoaster during the Covid19 lockdown – between a heartbreaking postponement, monitoring the ever-changing regulations and coordinating with multiple suppliers on a potential new date, their wedding planning journey was far from simple. Originally securing a second date for 18th December 2020, after hearing the news that small wedding ceremonies were able to go ahead, they “bit the bullet” and booked their big (little) day in for 6th July. With rustic vibes and pastel tones, Donnington Park Farmhouse was the perfect setting. Sarah and Simon have kindly given us an insight into pulling off the perfect, post-lockdown day.
Becca & Tom
Sometimes the best laid plans just aren't meant to be. We love how this couple embraced the situation, went for it and ended up having the most amazing day full of gorgeous details. Get ready for some major lockdown loveliness and micro wedding magic as Becca tells us a bit more about the day…
Joely & Paul
For many couples currently debating whether to go ahead with a smaller wedding in line with current restrictions, we think this wedding day goes a long way to show that smaller, intimate weddings can still be stunningly stylish affairs. In the beautifully rural backdrop of Thorpe Gardens, Joely and Paul said I do with a handful of friends and family and we’ve been given a sneak peek into their luscious lockdown day of love. So get ready to swoon over these gorgeous images and have a read of Joely’s details from the day.
Lauren & Dan
The COVID pandemic has had devastating effects on the wedding industry and we were one of the 2020 couples that faced such uncertainty and were stuck in limbo for 5 months surrounding our wedding. We were set to have 120 of our family and friends attend our wedding in August, but in June this was postponed to next year… it will still be taking place, but now just slightly different than we originally planned, so rather than celebrating getting married, we will be celebrating our first year of marriage. We had booked cottages in Northumberland for the week of the original wedding and, as a family, decided we still wanted to go as the break would do us the world of good… wedding or no wedding. Then on the 4th July Boris announced that small wedding ceremonies were able to take place and with no plan, dress, or even rings, we booked the first slot available and gave a new notice of marriage at Bakewell Town Hall. However, at this point, we were still uncertain that we would finally get the chance to marry as registry offices across England had different rules and Morpeth Town Hall weren’t able to give the green light just yet. The waiting game began and then, just 28 days before our date, we got the go ahead and the planning started.
Charlotte & Sam
Long before it became the only only option (5 years ago in fact), Charlotte (the talent behind Frond and Bloom) opted for wedding with just 15 guests. It is an oldie but definitely a goodie!
One of the plus sides of smaller numbers is that options become open that wouldn’t work for larger guest lists which can make the day extra special, like going all out opulent with elements of your décor like Charlotte’s gorgeous table scape.
Here, Charlotte tells us a bit more about her day and how she wants to inspire couples to opt for intimate.
Ruth & Craig
We are just so happy to see weddings going ahead again. As with every part of our lives, there are some slight adjustments to ensure safety; lower numbers, social distance measures and, of course, masks are now essentials alongside the tissues and confetti! But the course principles of weddings are exactly the same - celebrating love and sharing special moments with loved ones.
Chris, from Artisan X photography, was thrilled to get back behind the lens for his first post-lockdown wedding and what a corker it was too. Ruth and Craig tied the knot at beautiful Swallows Nest Edge, a stunning wedding and events venue on the edge of the Cotswolds.
Chris has sent us his top picks from the gallery and tells us a little bit more about the day...
Jenni & James
We are obsessed with Jenni and James' wedding at the breathtaking Aswarby Rectory. Their big day oozes class, style and endless romance, from the twinkling Christmas tree to the overflowing florals, the delicious dusty pink tones to scatterings of golden candlelit, we love EVERYTHING about this wedding.
Rachel of Mirabella Weddings helped the happy couple pull together this whimsical wonder of a wedding tells us more about the day...
Sally & Ragnar
Sally and Ragnar experienced the absolute heartbreak of having to postpone the wedding they'd lovingly planned due to the Covid19 lockdown. When restrictions were slightly eased, they had the opportunity to celebrate their love with an truly intimate ceremony with the most cherished people in their lives. It might not have been the big day they'd been planning but the love shone through just as brightly. Esther Louise Triffitt, their chosen photographer for the day, tells us more about their day and gives a little insight into what post-corona wedding days look like...
Siân & Simon
We love a good flower and this wedding has them aplenty, along with boho vibes, the coolest VW camper and, quite possibly, the most joyful bride we've ever seen! Siân and Simon created a wedding day which just perfectly represented them and their lifestyle. With caring for the environment being important to them in everyday life, they made sure their wedding day was no exception with sustainability, recycling and locality being at the forefront of the planning.
Here the lovely Siân tells us more about how they created their beautifully bohemian day...
Suzanne & Matt
Here at Save the Date HQ, we absolutely love the work of photographer Daniel Hughes; he has a real knack for capturing the most genuine and natural moments of weddings and this one is no exception! On a (rather blustery - 45mp winds to be exact!) day back in February, Suzanne & Matt tied the knot at the utterly beautiful Hazel Gap Farm. The day, filled with love, laughter, candlelight and one fly away veil, was captured so beautifully and we love how the relaxed, happy vibes of the day come screaming through the images.
This simply stunning day is giving us all the feels - have a nosey and see for yourself....
