A Traditional Summer Wedding With A Modern Twist...
We're so looking forward to sharing Megan & Jake's delightful summer celebration with you. This ultra-romantic day has plenty of dreamy details to inspire you, so make sure you get pinning...
TELL US ABOUT YOUR VENUE...
“We got married at The Old Vicarage Boutique Hotel. I always knew I wanted to visit the venue when we got engaged but didn’t think it would change my mind on a destination venue! Well I was wrong! The venue was exactly what we wanted; intimate, modern, clean and the option to get married in their garden. We saw quite a few venues and whilst they were lovely they just didn’t hit the standards we we’re looking for. The Od Vicarage surpassed them!”
DESCRIBE THE STYLE OF YOUR WEDDING...
“Our wedding was traditional with modern hints. The colours were golds, champagne and hints of blush. We are quite simple and we wanted that reflected in the style and the flowers to be our main decoration. We added a bit of sparkle with the table runners, and flower wall for a photo backdrop. Our favours were bags of lavender, and also acted as place names as well (the room smelled amazing!) and our table plan was a tree with pieces of card handing and decorated by our florist.”
WHAT DID YOU ALL WEAR?
“I knew I wanted an off the shoulder dress, that was quite fitted. I saw the perfect dress at the save the date wedding fair and booked my appointment with Frances day bridal soon after. I tried on the dress and instantly knew it was the one! It was a strapless Enzoni gown that i customised go make it even more perfect. I added an off the shoulder top in the most delicate lace. I originally wanted a veil but slightly altered this by having it made into a detachable train from the waist. It truly gave me a unique dress and one I could adapt for the evening.
The bridesmaids wore long champagne dresses, with a sexy leg split. They were simple but very effective. My mother in law sewed on a embellished belt to add a little glamour. The groomsmen wore navy suits with champagne ties. And the groom wore a light beige jacket and navy trousers. We wanted the groom to stand out from the rest and the jacket looked great. Again we wanted the style to reflect our style and for our party to be comfortable throughout the day.”
WHAT DID EVERYBODY EAT AND DRINK?
“The wedding guests had canopies during our drinks reception alongside beers and prosecco. For the starter we have chicken and bacon terrine, slow roasted beef for the main and bake well tart for our desert. We then served pulled pork and stuffing cobs in the evening.”
HOW DID YOU ENTERTAIN THE GUESTS?
“We had a live singer for our ceremony and drink reception. Rosanna Smith O’brien Sang whilst the guests arrived, when I walked down the aisle and during our drinks reception. She was amazing and it made it so romantic having her sing as I walked down the aisle. For the evening we had the band ‘We Have You Covered’. I cannot explain how amazing they were! They played requests on the night and smashed out a JLO/Beyoncé remix that started off the night in true style. The guests loved them and we partied until we were forced to finish!”
ANY WORDS OF ADVICE FOR FUTURE BRIDES & GROOMS?
“Be as organised as possible as this means you can enjoy the lead up to your wedding. Be true to yourselves, you cannot please everyone and there will be times when you will try to accompany everyone and everything, but it’s your day and of what you both feel is right.”
