Introduction

Welcome to the wedding of Lorna & Angus at Sutton Bonington Hall

Happy couple, Lorna and Angus, dreamt of a relaxed and informal wedding day, with huge involvement from friends and family and that's exactly what they got! They opted for a classic English country garden wedding theme with subtle hints of Spanish fiesta. The newlyweds decided to keep the decor simple, letting their incredible venue do all of the talking. Their blush pink and burgundy colour scheme had hints of luxe gold, and it looked so beautiful.

WE WANTED THE WEDDING TO BE PERSONAL

Lorna the bride says, “We focused on making each part of the wedding personal to us and memorable for our guests. This included serving the groomsmens’ favourite beer behind the bar at night! Our colour scheme was gold, burgundy, and blush pink which was chosen to incorporate our Spanish theme. This theme began with our invitations and save the dates and was reflected on the day by the lace bridal gown and mantilla lace veil. Our guests enjoyed sangria on arrival at the reception and paella served from authentic giant pans in the evening. We worked hard to keep costs down and were very fortunate to be surrounded by creative friends and family who helped put together all our decorations. Over all we wanted to keep things simple so that our guests could relax and enjoy the day with us.”

WE LOVED THE VENUE AS SOON AS WE SAW IT

St Nics is the church we attend regularly so this was personal to us and also ideal for a big crowd. For our reception we chose Sutton Bonington Hall which is 30 minutes drive from Nottingham city centre. We loved this venue as soon as we saw it and the owners were very friendly, accommodating and had lots of ideas and experience. The gardens and outdoor space are stunning and a real selling point, especially when thinking about photographs. It is also, believe it or not, still used as a family home so was perfect for creating an intimate and informal setting. All the rooms are beautifully furnished, cosy and full of character which allows guests to relax and explore. The venue looks great during the day and at night, thanks to fairy lights in the jasmine inside the orangery. Another plus point of this venue is that you can tailor your catering to your own needs and there are no hidden costs.”
