Liv & Owen
On December 29th, good friends of ours Olivia & Owen tied the knot in the most magical, wintry setting, enveloped in a blanket of snow. Taking place at Stapleford Park in Leicestershire, the whole day was just perfect; from the elegant drinks reception at the start of the day complete with pianist, roaring fires and an endless supply of champagne right through to the house party at midnight with dance music and one of the guests playing the decks. From start to finish, this was a wedding day to remember. Here’s Olivia to tell us more:
“We visited the venue in January and all the Christmas decorations were up and the fires were roaring and it just made us think a winter wedding would be so lovely. Also because we wanted a house party feel, we needed somewhere we could take over exclusively with enough bedrooms for most people to stay over. Stapleford Park ticked all the boxes.
My dress was dark ivory, which complimented my skin tone. I love vintage looking lace, so went for an a-line style dress with little capped sleeves and a lace back. My mum and I designed what I wanted after trying various dresses on but never really found exactly what I wanted and then Dawn and Maxine from Couture Bridal made it for me. It was exactly what I’d hoped for and more.
Owen’s suit was made to measure by Harold from Rose and White tailoring– it was black tie and we asked all our guests to dress in black tie and dresses as felt it worked with the winter, Christmas feel of the day.
Our ceremony took place in the Orangery with stunning views of the white covered grounds then our wedding breakfast was in the Grand Hall which was transformed with amazing Christmas trees and a warm wintry glow.
Michele Gledhill helped with the styling and flowers; her work is just incredible and both mine and the bridesmaid’s bouquets looked so gorgeous. She helped with the transformation of the Grand Hall with the vintage inspired mementoes as centrepieces too.
Rather than a traditional cake, we opted for a three tiered cake of cheese! This was provided by Lincolnshire Poacher Society and was a real work of art!
We themed the tables in a vintage style and tried to keep it personal with lots of mementos and named the tables according to memories related to the people sat on that table. It was a good talking point for everyone!
Our stationery was designed by the amazing Lucy Ledger, everything followed through from the invitations to the menus and looked fab.
Entertainment was really important for us, especially Owen, and so we ensured there was always some sort of entertainment throughout the whole day. For the drinks reception, we had a pianist from Function Central then for the service, Estillo (string quartet) played songs which were special to the two of us, the band in the evening (West Coast Heroes) were amazing and had people on the dance floor all night and then right at the end of the night, we had a live sax (his name is Ben Smith based in West Midlands) and he went down a storm! All the guests absolutely loved him.”
Our photographer, Emma Cleveley captured the day and did such a good job. It was freezing but she still managed to get some amazing shots outside in the snowy setting without either of us getting hypothermia!
We also had a wedding film created by James Hollingsworth from Digi-Scope productions. This is such a lovely memory of our day and Owen and I can’t stop watching all the hilarious ‘video diary’ clips our guests did for us (after a few drinks!)
