A relaxed yet romantic wedding for Kerry & Gary at The Kedleston Country House Hotel in Derby…
'Our wedding was relaxed and intimate, without too much tradition or faff! Which is exactly how we'd pictured it right from the start.
The style of the venue is simple, rustic yet modern which we complemented with our wedding décor, a palette of corals/peach/navy. We also didn’t really want to conform to the uniform look for the wedding party so the bridesmaids (and man) all had different yet complementing looks. I also love the 60’s/70’s so even though we never actually left the venue, I still insisted on a wedding car… my dads 1970 Mini Cooper S in bronze yellow! Which has starred in many of the wedding photos."
TELL US ABOUT YOUR WEDDING VENUE
“The Kedleston Country House, in Derbyshire is a beautiful country house hotel set in lovely countryside. It had recently been renovated in what can only be described as the style of my dream house, and therefore instantly gave a warm welcoming even on the cold and grey January day that we first went to view it. It’s an intimate, friendly and beautifully simple venue and was the perfect setting for our relaxed wedding.”
DESCRIBE THE STYLE OF YOUR WEDDING
“Simple and rustic, with a nod to the 60’s/70’s! Our colour scheme was navy, corals and pinks which flowed through everything from the outfits, to the table decorations, flowers and stunning cake. I love a bit of crafting, so made all of the wedding stationery – a total labour of love! And together with my very talented Bridesman, Bridesmaids and parents, we styled venue with all the decorations the night before the wedding, including bunting, confetti balloons and a cookie & candy bar! Our wedding car (even though we never left the venue!) was my dads 1970’s classic Mini Cooper S, which has made more of a starring appearance in wedding photos than myself and my husband!’
WHAT DID YOU ALL WEAR?
“Simple and elegant Jesus Piero wedding gown, styled with Jimmy Choos, a beaded sash from Nieve Couture and a Charlie Brear rose gold leather belt and leather jacket for the evening! Plus diamond earrings – a wedding gift from the Groom. The Groom wore a navy Ted Baker suit with grey waistcoat, Paul Smith polka dot tie and Barker shoes.
The Dads and Best Men wore similar navy suits, while the Bridesmaids and Bridesman wore mismatched, complementing outfits, as we really wanted a bit of individuality and style to shine through.”
HOW DID YOU ENTERTAIN YOUR WEDDING GUESTS?
” We had a fun little quiz to fill out on the table, a magic selfie mirror and a good old fashioned disco, playing all the best tunes from Motown to Club Classics!”
WHAT DID EVERYBODY EAT AND DRINK?
“Kedleston Cup cocktails
Starter – crab & crayfish cocktail
Main – roast beef with all the trimmings
Dessert – bakewell pudding
Cookies & Candy.”
ANY WORDS OF ADVICE FOR FUTURE BRIDES & GROOMS?
“Do not stress and do things your way. Enjoy every moment of the planning and lead up and above all try to take 5 seconds during the day to take everything in, it all goes so fast!”
