Georgina & Jonathan
Georgina and Jonathan’s Wedding was intimate, classically styled and filled with “vintage Sparkle.”
Over to Georgina to tell you more…
“Norwood Park was the first of 4 venues we visited, I fell in love with it as soon as we started to drive up the drive way leading to the hall. It is stunningly beautiful inside and out and had the perfect vintage chic look I so desperately wanted. The house is a picture in itself and I could immediately visualise us saying our “I do’s” there! The décor inside is everything I love and wish for in my own home, old fashioned fire places and portraits in every room and just so much character at every turn. The log fires and the news of a large Christmas tree erected in the entrance hall each November absolutely sealed the deal for us!
I really wanted for me, the bridesmaids and my Mum to all get ready at the venue on the morning of the wedding, this was absolutely key in making our day so relaxed for me/them. I would recommend it to any bride, being at the venue means you feel a lot less rushed, and having the hair and make up artists come to you means you can hang out in your pyjamas sipping champagne and enjoying every minute of the day!
My dress was an Essence of Australia gown, lace and beaded top to bottom with a fishtail and keyhole back – my absolute dream dress! It was the very last one I tried and was everything I had envisaged I wanted in my wedding gown. I still display it on a dress makers dummy in my dressing room at home as can’t bare not to look at it just yet!
In keeping with tradition, my something old was my late grandmother’s tiara which I had made into a bracelet for me to wear on the big day, it felt wonderful to wear something so precious and old and to have a piece of my grandmother with me on a day she would have loved to be part of.
My bouquet was made of ivory roses and adorned with jewellery and brooches, just to add to the drama of the overall appearance I was hoping for!
My look was all about vintage sparkle and glamour, I wore my hair loosely up with a hand maid pearl and lace floral circlet across my forehead.
Our wedding was classic and vintage in terms of theme, but relaxed and fun in terms of atmosphere. I wanted everything to look beautiful but feel informal, plenty of prosecco on arrival helped us achieve the latter(!) but the house, décor and grounds matched perfectly with our own decorative touches.
Our cake was inspired by my dress and was detailed with lace effect icing of different styles, we went for 3 different tiers, the bottom one being a Christmas cake which came in very handy the following month when we were entertaining the family for the festive period! We opted for a red velvet middle layer and a Victoria sponge at the top, Emma Benner is a fantastic cake maker and style and taste were both perfect! She decorated the top with our initials to keep with the more classic style we wanted.
Our photographers were/are AMAZING! They made everyone feel so comfortable and I immediately wanted to be their new best friend!
They had fantastic and creative ideas in terms of displaying my dress and accessories for the photographs but also were absolutely on board with all of my ideas (after many hours on pinterest there were LOTS of ideas!).
Emily and Katy were the perfect mix of organised enough to get everything done to time (I was very much against my guests hanging around for anything over 45 minutes for photographs – which we did manage to stick to!) and relaxed enough to let us enjoy our day and not bombard us with instruction. I have them to thank in a big way for making everything so perfect that day.
My main piece of advice to future brides is to be organised, plan ahead and give yourself and your helpers a task a month to complete so that you aren’t rushing in the final weeks, don’t try and do too much yourself, as much as it seems like a good idea, trying to create floral masterpieces is the very last thing on your mind on wedding week…a spa day the day before did me the world of good too!”
