TELL US ABOUT YOUR WEDDING VENUE…

“Even though there were holes in the floor and bricks and dust sheets all around, Andrew and his dad just sold The West Mill to us. Going in we didn’t know what we wanted from a venue but this was most definitely it! Because the venue already had all the character we didn’t want to spoil that. With our perfectly chosen music playing in the background and DIY signs and pictures placed The West Mill couldn’t have looked more beautiful.”

WHAT DID YOU ALL WEAR?

“I wore a beautiful, classic Justin Alexander dress which was so comfortable along side my champagne coloured shoes. For my two lovely sisters, they wore navy bridesmaids dresses from Brides & Gowns in Derby and my best friend and Gav’s sister, wore beautiful grey dresses from ASOS. The groomsmen all had suits from Moss Bros with navy ties to match with the bridesmaids dresses.”

WHAT DID EVERYBODY EAT AND DRINK?

“One of the best things about The West Mill was the no corkage, this allowed us to provide drinks that we knew our guests would love. Instead of the usual champagne we served our personal favourite, sparkling pink moscato, which we hear went down a treat! We thought the food choice would be easy but Jenkinsons had so much choice! But they were so helpful at both the taster meal and the meeting we had. We chose a beautiful leek & potato soup to start, for main roast sirloin of beef and dessert was the amazing white chocolate and Cointreau brioche bread & butter pudding which we tried back at the taster meal and knew instantly we would have that at our wedding!”

HOW DID YOU ENTERTAIN YOUR WEDDING GUESTS?

“In the evening we had a brilliant local band that we both love, Licksquid which got everybody singing and dancing. We also had a photo booth from Snapcandy that all the guests loved!”

ANY WORDS OF ADVICE FOR FUTURE BRIDES & GROOMS?

“Just make sure you do what makes you happy! There are so many great companies out there to help you but also there is so much you can DIY with a little help from your family and friends.”
