WE HAD A TRULY FABULOUS DAY

“We really wanted the day to be very modern in style, like us! Which I hope we managed with the combination of table plan, favours and our finishing touches, not forgetting our giant letters with our initials. My dress was incredible and perfectly suited our modern theme, just what I had dreamed of. Our bridesmaid’s dresses were cobalt blue and we wanted that colour to run throughout the day but felt we needed an extra splash of brightness to bring everything to life – the flowers were bright pink and orange to add further depth and pop. As we were faced with a mainly white marquee our florist suggested using blue tablecloths perfectly complementing our scheme and the amazing floral displays they had created.

Our wedding was due to take place outside but of course the typical English weather had other ideas, so we ended up inside but this made the occasion very intimate and a perfect ceremony. For some fun and entertainment and after much convincing Dan finally agreed that I could book Matthew Le Mottee, an amazing magician. He certainly lived up to expectations and ensured it was a day no one would forget even if he left everyone baffled!

We had a truly fabulous day and all I wish was we could do it all over again!”

WE OPTED FOR A TRAVEL INSPIRED WEDDING THEME WITH A BLUE COLOUR SCHEME

“We chose Trunkwell House in Reading for our venue. We wanted a venue where our bridal party would have somewhere to stay afterwards with a modern feel and the option to get married outside. This ticked all the boxes, as well as it only being 30 minutes from our friends and family’s main location and delicious food.

We went with a modern style as this suited both of our styles and personalities, our favours were gin and tonic as Dan loves gin and the colours complemented our blue colour scheme perfectly. ‘The places we’ve loved’ was the theme for the table plan, table names and place cards as holidays are something we love to share with each other.”

MY DRESS WAS PERFECT AND EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED

“My dress was an Essence of Australia dress and when going shopping initially I was actually 21 weeks pregnant so I had to visualise what each dress would look like without a bump. I knew I wanted a low back and no lace but thought I would end up with a fitted trumpet style dress. Mine couldn’t have been further from this with a large tulle skirt, long train complete with cathedral length veil! It was perfect and exactly what I didn’t know I wanted! Then there were my gorgeous Valentino shoes to complete the look. The bridesmaids all wore the same cobalt blue dress, however, they were just able to all have different necklines to suit their shape and styles. I wanted them to feel beautiful on the day which I’m told they did.

The groom had a made to measure suit complete with personal details such as coloured lining and thread on button holes. Dan’s shoes were Oliver Sweeney and tattooed with personal details of the day, names, date and co-ordinates. The groomsmen had hired suits in the same fabric as Dan’s to ensure we had a clean look across them all.”

WE HAD A SELECITON OF DELICIOUS CANAPÉS FOR OUR GUESTS TO ENJOY

“We had a selection of canapés to eat, from mini Yorkshire puddings to chicken satay complete with prosecco, kir royal and corona for our guests to enjoy during the drink reception. Our wedding breakfast was a beautiful 3 course meal of:
sliced smoked duck served with griddled pepper salad drizzled with a balsamic dressing, rump of lamb served on 2 rosti potatoes with a red wine and Madeira sauce, and sharpe lemon torte with a fresh fruit coulis. Red and white wine were both on the table for the guests and then we all enjoyed a glass of champagne for the toast drink.”

WE WANTED TO ENSURE OUR GUESTS HAD THE BEST DAY POSSIBLE!

“We wanted to ensure our guests had the best day possible so we booked Matthew Le Mottee, an incredible magician to entertain the guests throughout the drinks reception and during the meal. We had giant letters of our initials outside to add to the overall look of the day and for a great photo opportunity. In the evening we booked a photo booth so our guests could have some fun after a few drinks.”

ANY ADVICE FOR FUTURE BRIDES AND GROOMS?

“Our advice for future brides and grooms would be:

• Try not to get too stressed over the little things it will all work out in the end
• Have my hair and makeup trials further in advance, as when I didn’t like my original ones I then had to find replacements
• Try not to check the weather forecast ever hour of every day the run up to the wedding as you can’t change it and whatever happens it will be perfect!”
