After being together for 8 years, Dan & Jessi wanted an intimate low-key wedding with their families and closest friend. They got married at the newly renovated Bridgford Hall, as they thought the surrounding park would be a great place for photographs after the ceremony.

As for the reception, the couple loved the style of restaurant and bar at the Lace Market Hotel and knew it would be the ideal place for their celebrations. The head chef at the Lace Market said he would create a menu of Dan & Jessi's choice. They both thought tapas would be a great idea, as it would enhance the informal relaxed feel they wanted for the day and encourage their guests to mingle. WE HAD AN UNDERSTATED SEASONAL SCHEME WITH WILDFLOWERS

“Our ceremony was at Bridgford Hall, in West Bridgford. We both know the area well, I (Dan) work close by and we often go to West Bridgford for a coffee or dinner. We knew that the renovation would be done by the time that we’re looking to get married and from looking at the plans, the renovation would be sympathetic to the period features that we liked.

We had an understated seasonal scheme with the wildflowers of the bouquet acting as a unifying theme. Overall, we wanted a very natural look for the flowers and this carried over to the cake and the way we decorated the reception venue at The Lace Market Hotel. We used all of our own vases of different sizes to arrange the flowers across the tables in the bar and the restaurant.”

WE SAID OUR GUESTS COULD WEAR WHATEVER THEY WANTED

“Neither of us felt comfortable asking people to wear a certain outfit or style, as we didn’t want people to feel as if they were standing on ceremony for us. We said that our guests could wear whatever they wanted (within reason!) and we thought everyone looked great and brought their own style to do the day. Jessi found the ideal dress very quickly and I (Dan) knew I wanted to invest in a great suit that I could wear again. It all came together very well.”

AS FOR THE FOOD, WE WANTED TO TRY SOMETHING A BIT DIFFERENT.

“We had a Prosecco reception and The Lace Market Hotel put on a great bar, with a particularly good selection of gins and whiskeys. As for the food, we wanted to try something a bit different. We both love tapas, and the head chef said he could do whatever we wanted, so we thought why not? Everyone thought the food was amazing, which was lovely to hear, and it brought everyone together. It also meant with a lot of smaller plates it would ensure that there would be something for everyone.

We made our own playlist; a list of our favourite songs that we thought our guests would enjoy to keep everyone entertained.”

ANY ADVICE FOR FUTURE BRIDES & GROOMS?

“Our philosophy was to keep it simple. If you give people great food, drink and company then they will go home happy.”
