An ultra-romantic wedding day for Carrie & Nina
We're busy swooning over Carrie & Nina's gorgeous celebration at Fawsley Hall in Northamptonshire. We're handing you over to these beautiful brides so that you can find out a little more about their big day…
"To put our wedding into words… emotional, personal and undeniably beautiful, filled with love and happiness but overall, it was perfect. We spent the whole day laughing and smiling surrounded by our closest friends and family, an overwhelming feeling of happiness and joy.
Every last detail had been planned and thought through, all eventualities covered, so much planning and organisation came down to one day. Excited and nervous, we both walked down the aisle desperate to get on with the day and enjoy every moment."
TELL US ABOUT YOUR VENUE…
“Our wedding was held at Fawsley Hall in Northamptonshire, a beautiful venue in a beautiful setting, with the perfect mix of indoor and outdoor space. We wanted somewhere our guests could stay over and enjoy for more than just the day. Most importantly, we wanted a venue that we could return to and maybe one day take our own family to.”
DESCRIBE THE STYLE OF YOUR WEDDING…
“We wanted a mixture of traditional and modern with lots of sentimental hints to our family, us as a couple and our upbringing. We wanted the day to be personal to us. We chose our favourite places as table names with hand-drawn illustrations for each. We met whilst both working at Fortnum & Mason in London so this had a key part in our decorations and favours. Flowers were a mixture of olive trees and branches as a nod to my French heritage and family, with Scottish ferns also included to represent Carrie’s family. Our colours included greys, pinks and copper with as many shades of green as we could! As a keen crafter, Nina wanted much of the day to be handmade as possible. Every detail was thought through and planned.”
WHAT DID YOU ALL WEAR?
“Our dresses were a total surprise to each other, we both had ideas as to what the other would wear, but we couldn’t have been more wrong! Carrie’s dress was classic and elegant, a fabulous mix of a modern ruffled skirt and traditional fitted, off the shoulder corset. Nina’s dress was a simple, strapless, silk Sassi Holford dress with a bespoke belt added for sparkle.
Our bridesmaids were in jumpsuits, an unlikely choice but one of our best! We chose our two best friends as our ‘Best People’ who wore dusky pink suits to match the bridesmaids and looked amazing. Two flower girls in frilly white dresses, complete with handmade sashes to match the ushers and dads. Our brothers took roles of ushers, in simple grey suits with floral pink ties and handmade pocket squares whilst the dad chose their own suits, with the same ties and squares as the ushers.”
WHAT DID EVERYBODY EAT AND DRINK?
“Food was a hard choice for us, as big foodies we wanted something that we both loved. Local Brixworth paté to start with plum chutney, slow cooked lamb with dauphinoise potatoes for main and New York cheesecake for pudding with blueberry compote. It was all delicious! We chose a hog roast for the evening which went down very well with our partying guests. We also decided on a cheese cake instead of canapés which not only looked amazing but was truly devoured!”
HOW DID YOU ENTERTAIN THE GUESTS?
“As a musician herself, Carrie took a serious interest in the music choices. We booked a live band for the evening with an amazing saxophonist and an incredible lead singer. Carrie surprised Nina with a performance of our favourite song to kick off the evening entertainment. We set up a photo-booth complete with props and a ping pong table to get some serious competitions going.”
ANY WORDS OF ADVICE FOR FUTURE COUPLES?
“The day goes by in a flash. It is over before you’ve even thought about it so make sure you stand back and take everything in as much as possible. Our best decision was booking a videographer, being able to look back on the day and relive it has been priceless! Don’t worry if everything doesn’t go completely to plan and don’t try to plan everything too much. Relax and enjoy the day as much as you can. Laugh as much as you can and don’t worry about the awful faces you pull when you laugh! Book a photographer who you relax with and let them free to capture everything as unrehearsed as possible.”
