Welcome to the wedding of Aimee & Nathan at Donington Park Farmhouse Hotel
Newlyweds, Aimee and Nathan, opted for a pretty pastel wedding at Donington Park Farmhouse Hotel, with a wonderful rustic feel. This bride was seriously crafty, creating the majority of decorations and props herself. Aimee even designed her own lace wedding dress and it was stunning. Take a look through the gallery to see more of this gorgeous wedding day…
WE LOVED THE RUSTIC STYLE
“Nathan and I got married in the barn conversion at Donington Park Farmhouse Hotel in Castle Donington. I was keen on getting married in a barn because I love that rustic, upcycled style but what really sealed the deal on this particular venue was that we could invite a larger than normal amount of people to the ceremony. This was important because the groom has a large amount of immediate family and we wanted to make sure we could invite them all to watch us become husband and wife.”
I DESIGNED MY WEDDING DRESS
“The dress was designed by myself and made to order. Honestly, I never thought I would be able to afford to have my dress made (I had a budget of £1000) and so I started my search by visiting the local stores in Leicester. I always knew I liked lace and that I also wanted an open back on my wedding dress. Because I had a very clear idea about what I wanted I really struggled to find the perfect dress and I did start to feel like it was never going to happen. Eventually I stumbled across a small boutique called ‘Brides of Bond Street’ and instantly fell in love with their selection of lace fabrics. Every dress I tried on elsewhere simply failed to match the feeling I got from finding the perfect fabric and because they make everything to order it meant that I was able to get exactly what I wanted – and all within budget too!”
OUR PHOTOGRAPHERS MANAGED TO CAPTURE THE CREATIVE, FUN AND RUSTIC FEEL OF OUR DAY
“We didn’t use that many suppliers because I made so many of the details myself; all of the invitations, decorations and other stationery were carefully planned and made in the year running up to the big day with the exception of the big letters!
My very talented bridesmaid (and best friend) made those and I simply painted them in colours that complimented the pastel theme. We already knew our wedding DJ because he hosted the local pub quiz every Wednesday! He and his wife run their company ‘Elite Wedding DJs’ and they really did go above and beyond for us on the day, getting there early to set up beautiful colour lighting in the barn, playing the music for our ceremony, entertaining our guests with magic tricks and also working late into the evening as the reception party got underway.
A colleague of mine recommended our photographers to us, ‘Emily & Katy Wedding Photography’, and I couldn’t be happier with our choice. We hired them both to ensure that both formal and candid shots were taken, Emily and Katy listened carefully to what we wanted and managed to capture the creative, fun and rustic feel that we hoped our wedding would take on. They are both incredibly talented and all of our guests have made some sort of passing comment to us about how much they love the photos that were taken by these wonderful ladies, I highly recommend them to anyone in need of a photographer! The flowers were made by a friend of my mothers and the cake was made by my auntie who made all of my childhood birthday cakes, it seemed fitting that she make my wedding cake too. It made the entire day that much more special because all of the elements were handmade by friends and family. It was also much kinder on our budget!”
ALWAYS ACCEPT HELP FROM OTHERS
“My advice for any future brides would be to accept help from others. Your day will go that much smoother if you allow other people to take control of certain things, just be specific with your instructions! I had two close friends set up the decorations on the morning of the wedding, something that I would have happily done myself but the last thing I wanted was to be stressed with that before getting myself ready. It also meant that when I finally walked down the aisle that it was a lovely surprise and brought tears to my eyes.”
