Adam & Katie tied the knot at Stubton Hall in Lincolnshire, surrounded by friends and family for the most beautiful Summer wedding day. They opted for a glamorous pink and gold colour scheme, with gold-dipped feather chair backs, gold jam jars with small tea lights and lots of pretty blush blooms. The overall theme was modern yet romantic. Let's have a nosey…
WE HAD A 'LOVE ACTUALLY MOMENT'
“We tied the knot at Stubton Hall in Lincolnshire , which is a beautiful exclusive use venue with a fantastic mix of old and new as well as stunning grounds and plenty of individually styled rooms for guests to stay over. We’d always agreed that we would get married in church. After seeing Stubton Hall we checked out the local churches and chose to have our ceremony at All Saints, a very pretty little church in the middle of Fenton village, Lincolnshire. We wanted an intimate feel for our ceremony and fell in love with this little church as soon as we saw it. Our Vicar was fab and made the service very personal. At one point she had the Best Man up singing ‘All You Need is Love’ and all our guests were singing it back to us, a proper ‘Love Actually’ moment!
Overall, our wedding day was laid back, pretty & romantic, with a blush pink & gold colour scheme. We DIY’d the flowers in the church. Adam’s mum surprised me with the biggest hydrangeas I have ever seen and my mum gave us some lavender out of her own garden that smelt lovely. We used glass bottles to display the flowers on the pew ends and jam jars which I had spray painted gold along with lots of candles. I also made some gold dipped feather chair backs that I spotted on Pinterest. Our wedding stationery was designed by one of my best friends and bridesmaid, Amy Bailey. Amy specialises in bespoke, hand-painted floral designs and creates the prettiest stationery. We wanted our stationery to have a romantic yet modern floral theme in blush pinks and gold, and Amy captured this perfectly. The girls at Save the Date Event Stylist dressed the reception room and made a fantastic job. We had lots of vintage cut glass, candles and fresh flowers on the tables along with gold sequin table runners. Gold laser cut place names were by VMBespoke. The bridal party bouquets doubled up as flowers for the top table which worked really well. Save the Date Event Stylist also provided the chandelier and lace curtains over the cake table which looked lovely lit up at night.”
I CUSTOMISED MY WEDDING DRESS
“I wore ‘Elizabeth’ by Ronald Joyce which I customised with a delicate pearl chain across the back for a bit of extra detail. I also wore a dramatic cathedral length lace veil and fresh flowers in my hair. The necklace I wore was my mums, a sapphire pendant surrounded by diamonds that my dad bought her. It was my something old, borrowed and something blue.
My adult bridesmaids wore blush pink dresses by TFNC at ASOS. They all felt comfortable on the day and looked gorgeous. The flower girl dresses and floral crowns were from BHS. Adam wore a blue three piece suit from Next with a blush pink pocket square, bow tie and socks to match the bridesmaid dresses.”
“Food was really important to us and we knew we didn’t want a traditional 3 course set meal. We wanted to incorporate all our favourite foods, whilst still keeping it sophisticated and Rachel at Stubton Hall was really good at putting together a menu that suited us. We had posh summertime BBQ for the wedding breakfast served at the table with rustic potato wedges and lots of salads followed by make your own ice cream sundaes which went down perfectly, especially on such a hot day. At night we had pizzas, fish finger sandwiches and chip butties, perfect post-drink food! We had a separate cocktail bar and chose our favourite cocktails to serve and name for a personal touch. We decided on a cake table rather than a traditional three tier. Our centre cake was a double height white chocolate and raspberry sponge by Ganache Cake House in Edwinstowe. We had fresh flowers on the top provided by Michele Gledhill and two little gold cat figures to represent our cats Tigerlily and Minnie. Adam’s friend’s mum Kim makes the most delicious cakes and kindly agreed to make us an elderflower sponge and a red velvet cake decorated in marshmallows and Jazzies as a nod to Adam’s love of sweets. They all looked so good together and tasted amazing.
James Clark sang and played the guitar during our drinks reception. James has a regular acoustic slot at one of our local pubs so we knew he’d create the laid-back atmosphere we wanted. We were so lucky as the weather was beautiful and we were able to have our drinks reception outside. One of my favourite memories is of looking around at all our family and friends having drinks in the sunshine as James played in the background, literally pinching myself that the day was so perfect. In the evening we just wanted to everyone to dance lots and hired Stubton Hall’s resident DJ Kevin from Perfection Entertainments. We kicked the party off with This Girl by Kungs Vs Cooking on 3 burners (THE song of my hen weekend!) followed by lots of dance and old school R&B which kept the dance floor full all night!
We recommending getting the best photographer and videographer you can afford. Try and spend 10 minutes alone together to take in the craziness of the day!”
