Whatton House & Gardens – Wedding Open Day Review!

On a gorgeous summers day in August, a few weeks back, myself and Abbi had the pleasure of working with the lovely team at Whatton House & Gardens on their very first wedding open day. For those of you who don’t know, Whatton House & Gardens is a stunning venue in the heart of the East Midlands (just off the M1, A453, A6) so perfectly located but seemingly in the middle of nowhere. Surrounded by amazing panoramic views, you can enjoy¬†your wedding day in the beautiful grounds of the house within a marquee of your choice.

It really is just perfect. And the weather was our best friend on the open day – wall to wall sunshine all day for our brides and grooms to be to enjoy ūüôā

The incredible gardens were open for guests to have a wander and a vintage pole marquee courtesy of marquee mastermind, Simon Bond was pitched up in prime position for people to enjoy. The vintage pole marquee is an exciting project for the team at Bond Marquees as it offers people an alternative solution to the traditional clear span marquee; ideal for any vintage or rustic themed weddings.

Nextdoor to the vintage pole marquee we had a gorgeous tipi by the fabulous Peak Tipis. Now if you’ve not yet set your eyes on one of these beauties then you really must. They are so cool, so unique and so impressive. The team, Duncan and Matt at Peak Tipis are passionate about what they do and really know how to make a tipi wedding stand out.

I do Wedding Cars greeted guests as they arrived with their gorgeous vintage wedding car.

Guests then meandered along the flower lined path to meet with myself and Abbi to register before continuing their stroll through the gardens to the marquees.

A handful of trusted wedding suppliers were also there on the day to chat with the lovely brides to be and of course, show off their amazing talent. Executive Linen were on hand (if you need linen for your wedding day, these guys offer the BEST service), Melbourne Cake Company showcased their amazing cake creations and Blush Weddings were also there with beautiful wedding dresses.

We also had Michele Gledhill (florist and stylist extraordinare) with her beautiful blooms and creative table decor, Cakey Wakey with fabulous wedding cakes and table styling, Flowers by Philippa and Vintage Party who provide lovely vintage china and quirky decor pieces.

Poppy Trading Company were also there with their drop dead gorgeous furniture and decor pieces. If you’re looking for a themed wedding and really want to impress then these are the guys to speak to!

The lovely Rachael Connerton Photography exhibited with her amazing albums (and also took the fabulous images on this post) whilst vocalist, Simon Partridge entertained guests with his retro sound.

Maverick Catering were also on hand, offering guests a glass of fizz on arrival and providing the most gorgeous canapes in the form of miniature scones, jams and preserves (afternoon tea style). So delicious.

Outside, the ice cream trike was a hit courtesy of Chilli Pepper Events with everyone getting their hands on a complimentary frozen treat to keep them cool in the sunshine.

If you came along to the day, we hope you had fun and if not, make sure you take a look at Whatton House & Gardens – such a special venue.

Big thank you to Rachael Connerton for these gorgeous images.
