WEDDING VENUES | Step Inside The Kedleston Country House
The Kedleston Country House based in Derbyshire is one of our favourites at Save the Date. It’s understated, elegant and bang on trend. Plus it has the most idyllic location. Today, we chat to the wedding and events manager Stephanie to find out what’s happening at this elite wedding venue.
So, Stephanie, what’s new at The Kedleston?
We have recently welcomed a new head chef who has been carefully designing a new wedding menu for couples to select from for their special day. Dishes include Kedleston Gin Cured Salmon, Braised Lamb Shoulder and Honey and Yoghurt Panna Cotta. The set menu helps take the stress out of planning the food for your big day, while still offering a wide selection to fit into your style and budget.
We have also introduced wedding packages based on price per head to simplify the planning stage, and help you decide what to offer your guests. Our wedding planners then work with you to adapt the package to ensure it covers everything you wish to make your wedding the day of your dreams.
We’ve recently welcomed several new key members of the team who have helped us to develop customer service and offer personal touches to make all of our guests feel welcomed and valued.
What do you feel makes your wedding venue stand out?
We are a truly unique venue in Derbyshire in that we offer a stunning countryside setting, within easy reach of Derby and it’s transport links. The house was designed in 1760 by Robert Adam, the noted Georgian architect who designed Kedleston Hall. In 2015 the building was renovated by Derby Brewing Company and restored to it’s former classical English country house glory. The light filled restaurant with it’s wooden parquet floors is a beautiful space to host your wedding breakfast, while the newly added orangery provides stunning views of the surrounding countryside while you say your vows. The house offers five stunning boutique bedrooms, including two large suites, so there is plenty of space for you and your loved ones to make a weekend of it. You are invited to ‘make the house your home’ for the duration of your wedding celebrations so just relax, sip on a cocktail, and enjoy yourself.
What style of wedding do you think is best suited to The Kedleston?
Country-boho style weddings look beautiful in the Orangery. The mismatch vintage chairs and tables only need a few wild flowers and hessian ties to make it look like a celebration. On the other hand, classic luxury weddings also look fantastic with the backdrop of stunning surroundings and classy interiors. Winter weddings are particularly special at The Kedleston, cosying up with mulled wine by log fires makes for an intimate and unforgettable gathering.
Personally, what do you love the most about The Kedleston as a wedding venue?
I like the fact that you can choose to have exclusive use which means you and your guests are the only people on the entire estate. You have the run of the bar, restaurant, lounge rooms, orangery, terrace and garden, and it feels like your very own country house.
If you had to sum The Kedleston up in three words, what would you say?
Classic, stylish, homely.
