James and Jo have been together for over nine years. To reflect their journey of romance, their wedding theme was ‘ A Love Story’. With lots of beautiful love quotes from poets and novelists, they managed to celebrate starting a new chapter with all their family and friends.

Over to Jo to tell you all about their big day…

“We got married at St Andrews Church in the Grounds of Prestwold Hall followed by a reception at the beautiful Prestwold Hall. On our first visit I cried as we looked round. That’s got to mean it’s the one right? We instantly knew this was the perfect venue. The venue had everything we wished for. Grandeur and beautiful romantic setting whilst maintaining an intimate and relaxed feel. Coincidentally the Hall walls were dawned in beautiful pastel colours which matched the pale peach floral David Austin’s Juliet Roses (my favourite flower) and the starting point for our colour theme.

My family also have routes in Loughborough with my Nana and Granddad who have sadly passed away, born and raised there along with my Mother. My Nana always wanted to see me as a bride and in some way getting married in a Church in Loughborough felt like she was with me. The Hall is still lived in part by the ancestry family who we met on occasion and we really felt we were welcomed as a family into the Hall and it felt like the hall was our own for the day. We really felt our close family and friends would have a fantastic time there and would thoroughly enjoy the day.

I got my hair piece from Klaire Van Elton. Klaire lives locally to me which was great as I got the opportunity to go to her office and try on all of her head pieces. I knew I wanted to wear one of her pieces beforehand as I knew they would complement my style and dress. I opted for a piece called Penelope. Klaire then created a bespoke wrist cuff and earrings’ to match. Klaire used vintage book pages within both pieces to match the theme. These were all beautiful and really finished off the look.

All our wedding menus, name settings, and order of services were created in rustic peach stripes and hearts by a talented company called Norm and Dorothy I found on Etsy. These really tied in with our day.

My shoes I knew I would instantly buy from wedding shoe designer Rachel Simpson, who I had also had the pleasure of meeting a long time ago. I think I even chose the style before my dress!

As someone who is very sure of her style and always has a vision of exactly what she wants in a dress. I knew I would find it difficult to find the one. I searched through all the beautiful boutiques of the midlands finding many dresses that had bits of my perfect dress however it wasn’t until I visited the Wedding Club in Edgbaston and dropped upon the beautiful Spanish Designer Pronovias that I found the one. The gown was full of beautiful Spanish lace and was made to order from Barcelona. I instantly knew as I walked into the shop my dress would be among the beautiful designer gowns. I wanted my dress to reflect my everyday style that I would describe as a little vintage a little traditional and a little quirky but very girly and I would like to say classy.

My dress was a fitted fish tail gown underneath with a heart shaped bust line of tulle that cascaded down in an empire line into a beautiful long train. I always had visions of a long train and wanted to feel like a bride on the day. This dress was breath taking and I instantly felt like a million dollars in it.  I had the best of both worlds figure hugging with a soft romantic Tulle skirt and train. My mum even shed a tear when she saw me in it and it’s rare that I would see my mum cry. The lace was beautiful and I felt beautiful, like a proper bride.

Sarah Salotti photographed my Brother’s wedding in 2009 and the photos were utterly beautiful we loved her story telling and relaxed documentary style and knew that she would capture the day as it unfolded. We truly felt like we had friends photographing our day and they were really part of it. Even James who had reservations of being photographed all day thoroughly enjoyed himself. We couldn’t of asked for more. The compliments we have received have been over whelming. I think I have thanked both her and her Husband Marco too many times to mention but really Thanks again!

Bloom Fleuriste’s flowers were breath taking and nothing like I had seen before. Beautifully traditional natural and rustic. I knew that I didn’t want the usual set flowers you see at a lot of weddings, Hannah’s style and creative talent was amazing, she took my favourite flowers along with an abundance of scrap book pictures I showed her on our first consultation and made our vision come alive. My bouquet was stunning with peach Juliet David Austin Roses white hydrangeas and beautiful green foliage that smelt divine (I’m not sure what she used but it was beautifully scented as I walked round). The bouquet was hand tied with bespoke silk ribbon from a lovely silk ribbon painter who Hannah from Bloom Fleuriste, uses in the Cotswolds called Kate Cullen Styling.

My favourite items were the beautiful vintage books she filled with flowers that were used on the top table and a beautiful display she created near to the bar entrance with lights, candles, vintage vases and crates. It was perfect. Hannah also created a stunning archway across the church with the same flowers throughout. As Hannah was also an event stylist we hired a few props which included a beautiful heart shaped handmade light by her talented husband that we used  for our evening reception to light the dance floor, we also hired an extremely old beautiful oak door with a collection of vintage knobs of which we hung vintage frames I collected from charity shops and hung on each knob displaying out seating plan. This looked great as our guests entered the hall.

Our style was romantic, vintage chic and traditional. With lots of touches of lace, gorgeous English traditional styled flowers. Burlap with a hint of gold, and the use of old book pages for the stationary and props.

Love story was our overall theme. As a couple we have been together for nine years before we got married and I felt this would reflect our journey. We wanted the wedding to reflect our own personal style and reflect who we were as a couple. Our theme was reflected through vintage books filled with flowers. Beautifully styled by our florist, a collection of vintage glass vases from the florist, charity shops and what were my nana’s trifle dishes were scattered with beautiful peach David Austin Julliet Roses, with green foliage cascading from my bouquet and white hydrangeas. With touches of love quotes and poems from famous Poets and Novelists.

I collected vintage postcards and used these as table place cards. The postcards featured weddings from different eras. I named each table the word ‘love’ in different languages from different places we have travelled to.

I found The Lanes Lifestyle online, they had actually started the business after styling their own wedding at Prestwold Hall, we hired the burlap table runners a vintage chalk board. Lots of vintage books for the tables and a lovely old vintage box of which I wrapped in peach lace for our guest book table.

I found Victoria’s Cake Company online and immediately loved her style. Victoria was great and created a beautiful cake that was perfect to a T. She was very artistic and creative throughout the process and often suggested ideas. In the end we ended up with a lovely simplistic dessert table with our three tier cake of different flavoured cake pops and an individual cake, it looked spectacular and again I cried as I saw it for the first time on the day. Victoria also created our bespoke peach heart cookie favours for all our guests with our names individually stamped on each one, including separate cupcake cookies for the children to go in their table gift bags, I finished off the favours wrapped in brown chevron bags tied with peach striped bakers twine and closed with a peg and paper doily.

The entertainment  was one of the most important elements for us as we met over a love of similar music. James is a real music lover and we both love our indie bands whilst James has a real love and knowledge of an array of music from different era’s we found the band JJ Trio online and they were amazing! They played a real mix of songs from most of our favourite artists.

They were absolutely amazing and everyone commented on how talented they were. JJ Performed an acoustic set for all our guests for our drinks reception. We were as lucky as the sunshine was glorious and our guest s got to relax in a beautiful garden looking over the Leicestershire fields with the sun beaming down. In the evening JJ was joined by two other members of the banned and played all our favourite songs into the smalls hours. (I don’t think I left the dance floor all night)  As a trained dancer I knew I wanted to spend my wedding night dancing away with friends and family. The band played and learnt an acoustic version of The Beatles I want to hold your hand for our first dance. Which started of slow and then picked up paste. We were never keen on a slow dance and wanted to reflect our joint love of music and fun.

Enjoy every second of your planning, I was highly organised and had thought out every part of the day so it all tied in however that’s just me, you need to make sure your day reflects who you are as a couple. The day really does fly by and anything that is not 100% perfect on the day you will not even notice as you will be so happy believe me! Best day of our lives. Don’t listen to those who say planning a wedding is so stressful it was the best year of my life!
