Tis the season to be married! {Winter Wedding Inspiration}

In winter you might be limited to the types of flowers and fruits available to you but there are plenty of other things in nature you can take inspiration from. All the leaves may have fallen off the trees but that doesn’t mean that bare branches can’t look stunning dressed with decorations or sprayed a metallic colour to give them a more glamorous touch. If branches aren’t tickling your fancy there are plenty of evergreen trees and shrubs you can use like Christmas pine trees.

For your winter wedding colour palette you could go for whites and silvers to symbolise the snow and ice outside. To avoid this colour palette appearing to cold bring in some candles to put on the tables and around the venue to add some warm lighting.

A palette of rich reds or maroons would bring warmth to your wedding styling. Red winter berries are a great decoration for the tables or even the cake! Red ribbons are very ‘Christmassy’ so if you want to go down the more festive route these would look great as decoration.

Pine cones are a great decoration for your wedding. You can pick up as many as you need as there is an abundance of these at this time of year. You could keep them in their natural state to create more of a rustic style or you could get creative and spray them a colour that is in your palette or even dip them in glue and add glitter! They could be dotted about on your tables as part of the centre pieces or hung up on your branches or around the venue – the possibilities are endless!

Because the weather will be a bit cold it’s worth taking this in to consideration when you are choosing your dress, bridesmaid dresses and suits. If your dresses expose your arms, neck or back you might like to buy some shrugs or boleros that go well with your dresses and overall style. Fur shrugs and coats can look quite glamorous, especially if you have a delicate silk or satin dress underneath. For the men’s suits a thicker fabric might be needed to keep warm. Not only would it be more practical but warmer fabric like tweed is in-keeping with the winter theme.  Also, think about your guests and perhaps have blankets on hand if your wedding involves elements of going outside.
