The School of Rock!
Running a wedding magazine for the East Midlands can be hard work. Managing this simultaneously with the wedding event with a difference can be a real challenge. Throw a blog into the mix which has to be updated regularly and things can get very interesting ….
So, when Kat over at Rock n Roll Bride (fabulous wedding blog) announced the School of Rock date, I decided to give it a go. Spending an afternoon with a blogging legend and being immersed in the world of wedding blogs for a whole 5 hours could only be good for me and my poor little abandoned blog so I paid the fee and waited for the date to arrive.
Last Wednesday, 21st March came and it was time to head over to Sheffield for the School of Rock. The course took place at a fabulous venue called The Chimney House – very rustic, stripped back and a great central location.
I took my place on the large boardroom table and introduced myself to the rest of the group who were all lovely, professional and fellow bloggers who were all at different levels and stages in their businesses. We then set to business and Kat, looking fabulously colourful and glittery stood at the front of class and began.
Gareth, Kat’s husband was the only guy in a group of 20 something women but he took his role dutifully and helped answer technical questions and give advice to us all on the mind boggling world of Google, alga rhythms, SEO, coding and more …. plus, it was great to have a male perspective in a world of weddings filled with women!
Kat must have been extremely nervous to begin with (what a daunting task, talking for over 4 hours to a room full of eager bloggers) but she handled the situation very well and gave some very handy hints and tips. Her story was inspirational and what I felt came across was that her success has not derived from luck or good fortune but from bloody hard work, determination and dedication.
Success like Kat’s does not come easily and she has done SO well to get to the position where she is today and it was fabulous to get an insight into how the mind of a Rock n Roll bride works.

Well done Kat and good luck for your future School of Rock dates – I had a great day and sure my fellow class mates did too 🙂
(Plus, get me, I actually wrote this as a blog and even did my links properly – gold star please!)
