The musings of a chief bridesmaid
Ruth is a Wedding & Events Co-ordinator at a venue in Derbyshire. She’s also a vocalist soon to be performing at weddings, she helps organise a music festival and the most important job of all…she’s a chief bridesmaid!
How soon is too soon to start looking for ‘the’ dress? With 15 months to go my sister Katie wants to get everything sorted for her wedding right away so she doesn’t have anything to worry about next year. So…..on Saturday Katie, my mum & I set out to Lincolnshire for her very first dress try on!
I admit having never visited bridal shops I didn’t know what to expect. Were we setting ourselves up for hours of fake oohhs and ahhhs from the women in the shop every time Katie tried a dress on even if she looked like a meringue? Or maybe we’d be whisked off our feet with champagne and ladies throwing expensive dresses at us like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman? Well, when we turned up for our appointment at Jdezire Bridal Boutique we were pleasantly surprised and a little relieved!
Jdezire is set in the Lincolnshire countryside by a little farm & with my sister being a bit of a country girl I think she felt at ease as soon as we pulled up. The boutique itself was beautiful. Joanne the owner really listened to the ideas that Katie had in mind for her dress & picked out some beautiful dresses for her to try….cue Mum and I getting a little teary, Jo was straight on hand to offer us some tissues! As well as a great selection of bridal dresses (I looked through each and every one, such choice!) they had a bridesmaid’s section too. Here’s a couple of images I took at Jdezire
Overall, it was a great first experience; excellent recommendations & advice from the lovely Jo & Katie quite possibly found ‘the’ dress here! What a successful day!
Don’t forget, it’s the Vintage Chic wedding fair this Sunday (26th June). I’m so disappointed I can’t make this event as I’m going to Glastonbury. When you’re wandering around East Bridgford Hill with your partner, family & friends just think of me in a muddy field with greasy hair munching on noodles (what a glamorous image). No, I am really looking forward to it, as a Glastonbury virgin I absolutely cannot wait it’s just such a shame the Vintage Chic fair falls on the same weekend! I’m crossing my fingers there will be another one in the East Midlands very soon!
Have a lovely weekend & I’ll be back in 2 weeks
