The Musings of a Chief Bridesmaid by Ruth Terry
As some of you may know, I work at Thrumpton Hall coordinating weddings at the weekend. I helped dress the venue for a beautiful wedding on Saturday (1st September) and it was the strangest feeling to know that in seven days time, I’d be an actual guest attending my little sister’s wedding!
Last weekend was the hen do and what a day we had! It started with a beautiful champagne lunch at Sinatra’s in town then we went back to my place for the hen life drawing class which everyone was very nervous about! Our model was called Dean, a lovely guy in his 40’s from Liverpool and there was Caroline, the host. They were both great!
Right from the start they were in tune with everyone and made us feel comfortable – well, as comfortable as can be when you’re drawing a naked man! We had an older relative in the group and she was a little shy compared the rest of us. Caroline and Dean were brilliant with her, they could see that she was more reserved that the others and kept their distance whilst at the same time, they made her feel a part of it, that’s what I really liked about them. Dean performed different poses and got the bride involved as well as the bridesmaids (cringe!) and mother of the bride (even more cringe!), I won’t go into details and have the surprises away but we couldn’t stop laughing throughout the two-hour session. The class made the day, everyone thought it was brilliant and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone! Get in touch if you’d like the details of the company we used and check out some images from the class below!

I wonder what position he’s in?
Onto the big day and we all can’t believe it’s nearly here, we’ve talked about it for the past 18 months, there have been tears, plenty of laughs, one or two arguments but we’re through it all and we’re ready and waiting for Saturday to arrive!
The weekend included the final dress fitting – Katie was so worried she wouldn’t be able to fit in her dress but she’s actually lost a bit of weight, bless her! The groom and ushers also went for their final suit fittings and took them away with them. We’ve spoken with the chair company to find out when they’re delivering the chairs to the venue on Friday and that’s it really, we’re done! Giving me just enough time to go spinning at least 3 times this week (I will lose a few more pounds ready for those pictures on Saturday!), giving Katie enough time to do some last minute honeymoon clothes shopping and catch up on some sleep and giving Mum and Dad enough time to prepare their home for guests and relatives from around the UK! How exciting!
I’ll be sure to post the details of the wedding in my next blog and I can’t wait to share the pictures with you! I’ll also post a list of all the suppliers we’ve used just in case you spot anything that you like. Until then, I’m off to enjoy and celebrate my little sister’s big day…tissues at the ready. Arrghhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
