From initial sketch to final hand stitched button, designer Susie brings your unique and individual dress to life, allowing you to be involved in every step of the way. With prices starting from just £1600, it is a great alternative to standard bridal designs and allows you to create your very own, totally bespoke gown and experience a rather special design journey along the way. Not sure what to expect? We asked Susie to tell us a little more about the design process of creating a one-of-a-kind ensemble.
Initial Consultation
“At my beautiful, mill-based showroom, you are able to try on styles from existing collections, look through an extensive range of handpicked fabrics and laces and I can begin to piece together ideas for your initial designs. Visiting the showroom also allows you to see the studio where your own dress will be designed and handmade. It's also a great opportunity for me to find out all about your day; I love nothing more than hearing all your exciting wedding plans!
Mock-Up Designs
You will receive a selection of designs created just for you, as well as fabric samples which have been chosen with you in mind. Once you have had chance to view your designs and chosen your favourite, I will create a 'toile' or mock-up of the style to your measurements and here comes the magic! This is the moment you see your design come to life and are able to finally try it on, giving you a feel for the shape and style and it allows me to get that all important perfect fit! Each outfit is made-to-measure ensuring a flawless fit which enables my designs to be fully size inclusive; your dress is made to your body, celebrating your individual shape and size.
Bespoke gowns are usually worked on over a longer length of time meaning that the fit can be constantly tweaked as well as enabling design details to be changed, for example if you wanted to change the neckline or sleeve length further down the line that could accommodated. Bespoke also allows you to be much more flexible with your outfit design, maybe creating a style with layers that could be added or removed for later in the day adding another incredible look to your wedding.
Final Fitting
Once we are both happy with the dress, design details and fit. A final fitting is usually held 2-4 weeks before your wedding date, where you come to the studio to try on your finished gown. This is such a lovely experience and allows me to assess the fit of the finished dress on you before you take it away. I pride myself on my distinct attention to detail and make sure that everything is absolutely perfect for your special day.
