Stylish Wedding Chair Ideas & Decorations

When it comes to styling your wedding many of you will have lots of ideas on what flowers to have, what colour scheme to use and even what centre pieces you want to have on the tables. But, one of the most difficult things to design are your chairs, especially if you don’t want the more traditional white fabric cover and tied bow sash! More and more people are opting for more fun and creative ways to incorporate their chairs into the style of their wedding. Here are a few ideas to give you some inspiration for your own wedding chairs.

If your main decoration is floral and you’ve covered your venue top to bottom in flowers, then you could even add flowers to your chairs too. A popular idea is to line the aisle the bride walks down by hanging a small bunch of flowers or other decorations on the chairs closest to the aisle. If this idea might be a bit too much for you, why not only add a small sprig of lavender or gypsophila to all the guests’ chairs and then add a bigger bunch of flowers to the bride’s and groom’s chair to make them really stand out at your reception.

Bunting would look very cute hanging on the backs of chairs. This style would be absolutely perfect if you were having a country fete inspired wedding. You could easily buy or make bunting that matched your wedding style by having it in the same colours or why not try hessian fabric for a rustic farm feel.

For all you DIY brides, tissue paper can be used to make many different decorations for your chairs. You could make flowers out of tissue paper or make garlands with tissue paper shapes and string them from the chairs. If there’s a gentle breeze they will look pretty floating in the air.

Another easy idea you could do yourself is cutting fabric into thin strips and tie them on to the chairs so that the length of the strip float down the chair. Cut different coloured and textured fabric for a more interesting design.

If your more of a glamorous bride beads, gems, and pearls might be more up your street. Hanging a string of pearls to the back of your chairs is so simple but very effective. Perfect if you were going for a Great Gatsby inspired wedding.

Signs are normally saved for the bride and groom chairs. They can say things like ‘Mr’ and ‘Mrs’. Wooden hand painted signs are quite popular, especially in vintage chic weddings.

If you do in fact like chairs covered in fabric there’s still more interesting and creative ways to do it. If your chairs don’t have a solid back but instead have a few rungs you can weave your fabric through the rungs to create a pattern and fix the fabric to the chair. And instead of using white linen why not use more fun fabric like embroidered fabric or fabric with sequins or glitter on. This adds a little bit of sparkle to your chairs.

We hope this has given you plenty of ideas to take away with you and come up with something truly beautiful for your own chairs…Good luck!
