| STYLED SHOOT | The Bohemian Countryside

When Faye from Wild Calligraphy organises a styled shoot, we always know we're in for a treat and this shoot is no exception. Gathering up a super team of local wedding suppliers, Faye and co created a swoonworthy, free spirited spread within the rural backdrop at The Black Swan at Idridghay. Delicate neutral hues with hints of pastel pink and rose gold, fantastic fluffy florals and a couple of killer bridal gowns equal total #weddinginspo goals.

Faye has kindly taken time out to give us a great run down on how her vision for the shoot was turned into reality...

Our model is the gorgeous Ruby of Ruby J Beauty. Ruby, like many in the beauty industry has been frustrated at the lack of support for this vital sector and was keen to get back to work while respecting the rules. She created two next level looks (on herself) to compliment two dresses, and looks insane in both of them! We wanted to show you two completely different looks that would still work in a countryside pub setting. Having got married in a pub myself, I would really advocate couples to consider this setting for their perfect day. You can often secure really good deals with smaller venues, who are keen to accommodate weddings and elopement celebrations.

Sophie from Ivory white was instrumental in finding the perfect dresses for the shoot. Ruby and I had a lovely morning at her shop in Duffield sourcing the perfect gown. (Spoiler: Sophie sussed which ones would be Ruby’s favourite with minimal guidance, meaning we had extra time to try on lots of dresses just for fun)! Sophie has adapted measures in her boutique so that you can take a guest and still have a lovely experience picking THE dress. I know for a lot of brides, making big decisions when you’re not sure what your wedding will look like can be tough, but Sophie had us in stitches all morning, and I couldn’t recommend her services more. Her none salesy approach, expertise and warmth will make for a lovely, memorable afternoon with your guest.

Jenny and Rachel from Perfect Day Stylists and Silver Sixpence Florist are a dream team and worked together to create a magical styled look that was extra enough to be fit for a wedding but delicate enough to be elegant and timeless. I am living for that statement backdrop which could be moved around the venue throughout the day to help you get the most out of your hard-earned cash. It would look dreamy behind the top table during the wedding breakfast then used as a photo backdrop in the evening. (Imagine the Instagram snaps)! Jenny added hand dyed napkins and upcycled an old terracotta garden pot to home the centrepiece. She also re sprayed stands to fit the theme better.

And let’s not forget THAT cake which is the most delicious combo of layers and dried blooms. I can confirm that it was a real cake, we did eat as much of it as possible once the shoot finished and it was an 11/10.  The semi-naked finish with the cake is made so distinctive by the use of the textured and ripped fondant. A totally fresh cake design.

Wild calligraphy is an eco-friendly brand and I work exclusively with low waste or recycled materials. I also prioritise sourcing materials from other independent businesses to support small while creating dreamy stationery and on the day details that work in a variety of settings. For this shoot, I chose a delicious textured linen card stock in oat beige, with matching signage. I live for floral and botanical illustrations but wanted to compliment the layers and details in the table scape with something minimal. I love how Jenny has styled my signs with her metal backdrop (available to hire), and large ceramic vases full of Pampas. Now to try and source the exact same thing for my house…

From no foam floral installations that combine seasonal flowers (quicksand roses… the dreeeeamiest café au lait dahlias), dried blooms and foliage to natural linen table cloths, delicious bio degradable place cards and signage and beyond… Ellie and Leesha captured all elements perfectly and we had such a lovely day.
