STYLED SHOOT Gorgeously Gothic
Introduction
| STYLED SHOOT | Gorgeously Gothic
Yaaaassss! Be still my gothic heart; we are totally in love with this stunningly moody styled shoot. Set in these impressive grounds with the imposing shadow of beautiful Newstead Abbey in the background, this shoot was pulled together by Samantha of Willow & Rust Weddings and featured the work from some of the East Midlands wedding crew. We have to say, the dress is super special (we adore a bride who dares to go dark) and the florals are pretty fabulous too. Delve into this gallery of gorgeousness while Samantha tells us more about the inspiration behind the shoot…
Samantha says…
“Newstead Abbey is a place I have grown up with, I have spent many a summers afternoon when I was younger, with my family and our two dogs, wandering around the gardens in the sunshine, hoping to catch a glimpse of one of the Peacocks showing off his tail.
So when I discovered that you can actually get married in parts of the Abbey and it’s grounds I just had to arrange a shoot here.
This intimate outdoor ceremony set up was inspired by the gardens themselves and of course the peacocks. Although unfortunately we didn’t have the privilege of seeing one of these amazing birds flaunting his tail on the day, (I really wanted that shot but they just weren’t playing ball!)”
“I believe that one good thing to have come out of the last year is the realisation for a lot of couples that a wedding doesn’t have to be huge and impersonal with hundreds of guests. You can have an amazing and special day with your closest friends and family in a venue that means something to you both and is personal to you. And of course, as a business with a sustainable ethos smaller outdoor weddings are music to my ears!
The dress for this shoot by Ryley and Flynn was inspired by both the vintage feel of the abbey but also the peacocks themselves, with a vintage lace bodice and a skirt made from layers of blue tulle. The headpiece made with peacock feathers and jewels giving the look a glamorous elegance.”
“To me it’s these small details that are so important, this is what takes a wedding from special to extra special and this shoot was no exception. Right down to the beautiful blue suede sandals for the bride with a silver trim echoing the details on the dark blue grooms’ suit and the tie and matching cufflinks with a printed peacock design. The handmade chocolates as favours that can be eaten there and then or saved for later when dancing has made your guests peckish. These are the details that matter. This is how Willow and Rust Weddings can help to make your day extra special and a day you will remember forever.”

The variations of deep purple give real depth of colour and are a welcome change from the usual burnt orange and brown we see this time of year. Teamed with the hunter green, these colours are perfect for both indoor and outdoor as highlighted in the final images.
