Autumn Romance at The Chilli Barn...

Emma Tretton and Charlotte May, founders of new and upcoming cosmetology service, Comb & Rouge, had a vision for a cosy, intimate autumnal wedding shoot. With a little help from Just Lovely Styling and Wedding Planning Service, Hart Country Weddings, this vision was brought to life.

“The present shoot took place at The Chilli Barn, nestled in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. The traditional Yorkshire-Stone-built barn, surrounded by picturesque and meadows and pine forests, was converted especially for intimate weddings. The ceremony room features a large, high-arched statement door, opening onto manicured lawns, which overlook the dramatic rural setting. The interior maintains neutral décor, perfectly framing any chosen wedding theme. Shabby chic furniture and limewash Chiavari chairs ooze rustic charm, whilst jewelled chandeliers add a touch of glamour.”

Just Lovely Styling enhanced the scene, capturing rustic romance with a touch of elegance with soft candle-lighting and vintage accessories.

“We utilised our ever growing collection of props to enhance an already beautiful setting into a wedding wonderland”, Managing Director, Nicola Mackenzie, said.

“From brass lanterns and cut glass candle holders to milk churns and vintage bicycles, we really do have every item you could think of to help create your dream wedding. We also commission handmade signage and stationery giving the personal touch that every couple deserve on their special day!”

Scattered amongst the statement silver lanterns and delicate glass votives lay spectacular floral pieces in bold hues of copper and scarlet (Spectacular Scenes). A floral centrepiece was positioned on the shabby chic sweetheart table, complete handcrafted menu by Always Ever After. Further floral accents adorned the triple-layered naked cake, from Cake Nation, set upon a vintage dresser.

Models, Ellie Brown and Clare Hunter stepped into the role of Brides for the day and were styled by Comb & Rouge. MUA, Charlotte, used understated, warm tones and nude lips to offset Ellie’s natural beauty.

“I really wanted to capture the models natural beauty as I would with any bride”.

Hair Stylist, Emma showed off her laid back, boho style, Emma teased loose ringlets into a relaxed updo, adding a specially-commissioned hair piece and veil, handmade by Peacock & Pearl.

“I really enjoy creating pieces to fit the seasons; Autumn, is my personal favourite. I handcrafted the personalised veil to tie in with the autumnal colour scheme- fiery burnt orange tones paired with vivid reds hues. The golden leaf headpiece is a minimalist design, which really captures the essence of nature itself.”, Natalie McKinstry, founder of Peacock & Pearl, explained.

For model, Claire, Charlotte opted for a smokey eye in a shade of rusted orange, contrasting against the pure white dress and veil, yet keeping with the autumnal theme. Emma created a sleek, double bun for a modern, yet polished feel to complement the stunning backless gown from Blush Bridal of Leeds. The on-trend bridalwear featured a plunging neckline and trumpet cut, complete with sequin and lace detailing. Meanwhile, Ellie wore a classic, lace fit and flare dress, with added subtle sequins.

The day was coordinated by Hart Country Weddings, Yorkshire’s Affordable-Luxury Wedding Planning and Coordination Service. True to their Yorkshire Heritage, Hart host sophisticated weddings throughout Yorkshire’s finest country estates, period barns and moorland areas.

“I love working with clients, helping them to design and experience their dream day”, CEO, Chloé Hought enthused.

“We understand that the world of weddings can be daunting for even the most organised of brides, with an endless list of tasks to plan and perfect, not to mention the coordination of events on the day itself! Hart are here to guide you throughout your planning journey as and when needed, easing the pressure and eliminating stress from your big day.”

As times are changing and the modern working environment takes over, a planner is no longer an optional luxury for the rich and famous, but a necessity for most engaged couples!

The day was photographed by Lancashire-based Amy May of Amy J May Photography. Amy expertly photographed the gorgeous, autumnal wedding set up using a mixture of documentary and styled shots.

“I like to tell the story of a couple’s wedding day by capturing real, unposed moments. My aim is to be unobtrusive, allowing brides and grooms to enjoy their special day with friends and family, and receive beautiful, natural photos that represent how the day really was.”
