Ruth plans, organises and co-ordinates events at one of the most stylish venues in The Lace Market, Nottingham. She also helps organise a music festival, works with Bespoke Events to create dream weddings and the most important job of all…she’s a chief bridesmaid!

When Save the Date asked me to become a guest blogger I was delighted but the nerves quickly set in. With so many great blogs out there, how would mine stand out and why would people want to read it?

I decided to just be completely honest and write about what I know. My wedding experiences; what I’ve seen and what I’ve noticed along with the latest wedding news and tips to help the chief bridesmaid!

So, I’m Ruth, 25 & soon to be co-habiting with the other half. We’ve just bought a house in Nottingham and can’t wait to get moved in and make it pretty! Friends have said getting a mortgage together is such a big commitment it’s just like getting married. …how wrong they are! I’m not planning a wedding, I haven’t picked out a gorgeous dress, I haven’t made a guest list, picked a venue, chosen the flowers and I haven’t looked into exotic locations for my honeymoon…but I know someone who has!

My beautiful friend Laurie-Anne who I’ve known since I can remember is getting married next year.

I’m the chief bridesmaid, the best lady, the hen do organiser, the girl who must catch the bouquet (you get the picture) at Laurie-Anne’s wedding next summer. When she decided to break the news of her engagement I was presenting a radio show, (ex radio and TV broadcaster at your service, let me tell you – the world of weddings is much more fun).  Anyway, she sent me a text, an image of her wearing a beautiful ring on that all important finger and me being the absolute blub that I am, burst into tears live on air in the middle of a link.

Tears well spent though. Laurie-Anne has been with Chris for 7 years and they’re the loveliest of couples. They’ve booked their wedding at Ye Olde Bell Inn, which is in Retford. It’s a romantic 17th century coaching Inn with a veranda where the ceremony will take place. If you’re still yet to find the perfect venue check out the website, although the images don’t do this magical place justice!

I’ll keep you posted on Laurie-Anne’s wedding plans as the year goes on. For now, here we both are so you can put faces to the names!

Loz is the blonde, I’m the brunette

Onto a very special wedding that’s happening in a few weeks time… The Royal Wedding of course! I spotted a gorgeous ‘Kate Middleton’ dress and just had to share!

I think it’s perfect for venue visits and tea with the in-laws-to-be!

Another rather big wedding soon to be taking place…Politician Ed Milliband is due to get married at the gorgeous Langar Hall in Nottinghamshire in May! Actress Sarah Lancashire (ex Corrie) also got married here and the famous Nottingham designer Paul Smith is said to frequent Langar Hall.

It’s another beautiful venue…here are a few pictures for inspiration…

I’m off to my friend’s wedding in Northamptonshire this weekend; catch my next blog on 29th April  (the BIG day itself) for the latest on that one. I’ll also have advice & ideas on what to do for a classy hen do!

Until then, Ruth x
