Ruth Terry – the musings of a chief bridesmaid
Ruth is a Wedding & Events Co-ordinator at a venue in Derbyshire. She’s also a vocalist soon to be performing at weddings, she’s just moved into her first house with her partner and the most important job of all…she’s chief bridesmaid to her sister and her best friend!
Is it really September already? What a month it’s been…Last month at work I helped plan a last minute wedding in 3 weeks! I absolutely admire anyone who has the courage to do this, no beating around the bush. The bride I helped worked full time up until the day before her wedding, how brave! She worked every evening on the wedding & made just about everything herself (the cake, table plan, invites, flower arrangements, I could go on!) a lovely lady and a beautiful bride. I can genuinely say I enjoyed helping plan a wedding in 3 weeks!
In other news my little sister & bride to be had a car accident a few weeks ago, she collided with a bus, which wrote off her car and left her needing stitches in her foot & lots of bruises everywhere. Apart from that though, she’s ok. After seeing the pictures of her mangled little car friends & family have all said she’s been very lucky. Oh a lighter note though she’s been off work so she’s been phoning me everyday with wedding ideas! Lots of wedding events coming up which we’ll be going to but we’re saving ourselves for January to get the dress, bridesmaid’s dresses and accessories as all the new items will be out then!
*me and my sis!
I went to a wedding fair in Derby last weekend, there were some great exhibitors who work in decoration & invitation making which gave my sister yet more ideas but for me, I was slightly disappointed with the lack of bridal dresses & good entertainers especially. They were all men in suits, sat on a chair & they all seemed to be singing the same songs often repeating ‘classics’ from Michael Buble & Frank Sinatra…is this what couples nowadays really want for their wedding? Maybe it is but I just felt a little more originality was needed.
Finally, I’ve got a photoshoot on Sunday with lovely Merv of Field Photography. He’s shooting my guitarist and I for the website which should be ready in less than 2 weeks! I’ll hopefully be able to share the link with you next time I’m here. That reminds me, I’ll be performing at the Save the Date event so do pop along and say hi!
P.s. No Michael Buble & Frank Sinatra songs on my set list 😉
