Ruth Terry – The musings of a chief bridesmaid
Ruth plans, organises and co-ordinates events at one of the most stylish venues in Nottingham. She also helps organise a music festival, works with Bespoke Events to create dream weddings and the most important job of all…she’s a chief bridesmaid!
Well, I don’t know how you brides juggle planning your wedding alongside working full-time…I’m pretty much wedding planner for my little sister at the moment and I genuinely have no idea how I’m fitting everything in! It really does take over, even if you’re not the one getting married! I’m not at all complaining, on the contrary I love the organisation, the research, the venue show arounds and of course, helping my sister plan her big day, especially as it’s bought us closer together. It’s just so true what they say, it really does takes over your life!
So the church & reception for my sister & her hubby to be are now booked. Katie is very much a ‘home’ kind of gal so she’s booked the church at the end of her road in the village where we grew up (I know, how lovely!) and the reception will be in the heart of Sherwood Forest at the Rufford Park Golf & Country club, it’s perfect for her & just what she wanted.
Photographers were the next big one to book, I searched far and wide for my sister, emailed a lot of photographers to get quotes, looked through so many images on different websites but most were far too expensive. Until I came across Butterworth Photography, based in Derbyshire. They had several packages in which to choose from and it was so refreshing to see that their price list was in line with what normal people can actually afford! I spoke to Becky at Butterworth, showed my sister & her fiancé just what Butterworth can do and that’s it…. photographers booked! I must show you a couple of my favourite images from Butterworth Photography …
I spotted an event coming up next month, which looks great & I’m going to take my sister. It’s a fashion show at Shottle Hall in Derbyshire on June 15th. The fashion show will feature clothes for party looks for the hen do, bridesmaids & clothing for the mother of the bride. It’ll also feature stalls and suppliers for skincare, make-up, hair & beauty so it’s a bit of a pamper evening too! Tickets are £10 and include a glass of fizz and canapés. Find Shottle Hall on facebook for your chance to win a luxury pampering session & makeover….yes please!
Finally, I’m really sad to tell you that my very good friend Laurie-Anne, who I talked about in my first blog, has had to postpone her wedding until 2013 due to the fact it was going to cost so much. As we all know, weddings can be so expensive nowadays and she felt like she didn’t have enough time to save. They’ve postponed to exactly a year later so they can make sure they have the special wedding day they so deserve. I really admire her for doing this, it must have been so hard but at least now they will be able to have everything they want and won’t be worrying about how much it all costs.
Thanks for reading & see you again in a fortnight xxx
