Ruth Terry – The musings of a chief bridesmaid

Ruth Terry – The musings of a chief bridesmaid

Well, it’s all engagements & weddings for people around me at the moment!

I don’t know if I’m just at that point in my life where friends and loved ones are at that age to commit or perhaps Wills & Kate have turned everybody wedding mad but I’ve been asked to be a chief bridesmaid (again) this time…for my little sister!

It was my little sisters 22nd birthday last week; she was on holiday in Greece with Chris, her boyfriend of one year. He took her down to the beach, told her how beautiful she looked but that he felt her outfit wasn’t complete; it was then that he got out a ring… which fitted perfectly! She said yes through streams of tears! Bless her, I can still see her as a little girl playing with her little animal figures (she loved those things!) and now she’s getting married!

So, another wedding to help organise and more loved ones tying the knot and celebrating their love for one another. Absolutely perfect 🙂

If you’re a chief bridesmaid and one of your tasks is to organise the hen do, I want to let you know about a couple of things that I’ve spotted!

I stumbled across The Owl House Spa online the other day, it’s due to open in July, it’s a brand new boutique day spa in Derbyshire in the beautiful grounds of Langley Priory. They’re offering 2 treatments for the price of 1 to use throughout July and August which I reckon is a great offer as the treatments sound brilliant and they’re very long! Check it out and get yourself on the mailing list for these offers!

If drinking is more your hen’s thing then Cocktail Master classes are loads of fun! There’s a restaurant and piano bar called ‘The Living Room’ in The Lace Market in Nottingham, they hold cocktail classes each week. I help run the classes there and we always receive excellent feedback! There are some great opportunities to get some pictures of the hens and chicks behind the bar mixing and shaking a la ‘Tom Cruise – Cocktail’ style for those of us old enough to remember and you get to enjoy some flaring from the cocktail bartender! Contact for a full information sheet!

I’ve been researching ideas for my sisters hen do, my best friends hen do and hen do’s in general and I must admit, nude life drawing, vintage tea parties and 1920’s Charleston Dance classes are in my top 3! They all offer something a little bit different and look like so much fun! If you’re arranging a hen do or have done any of the above, please leave a comment and let me know how you got on!
