9 Lovely Ways To Include Your Mum In Your Wedding
It’s Mother’s Day – a day dedicated to celebrating all of the wonderful mums out there, so we thought we’d share our favourite ideas on how you can include the mother of the bride on your big day.
Involve your mum in the wedding planning process! She can be your very own family wedding planner and she will adore offering you a helping hand planning the most important day of your life. Whether it’s taking her to your wedding venue or trying out different cake flavours, this is a role that she will love being a part of.
Make the most of the girly trips and days out with your mum! Take her with your best girls to find the bridesmaid dresses, help her to find your wedding dress and use the wedding as an excuse for pamper days and afternoon tea to discuss all things wedding related.
Is your mum seriously crafty? Then make the most of her talents and ask her to create something truly special for your big day. For instance, you could have DIY days together making your very own bunting. Not only is it a fabulous way to bond and spend some time together, it’s a purse friendly way of decorating your wedding venue.
We’re huge fans of family trees at weddings and your mum will adore looking back through old photos of generations on their big days. Kindly ask her to gather together photographs of your family so that you can display them during your wedding day – it’ll be very emotional looking back at old photographs together and the family tree will be a lovely addition to your special day.
Be sure to include your mum on the morning of the wedding. Whether it’s to help you put on your wedding dress or simply enjoying a glass of fizz with you and your bridesmaids, this is such a special time and it’s the perfect way to celebrate the love of your mum. Make sure you ask your photographer to capture the first look when your mum sees you in your gown!
Why not ask your mum to do a reading during your wedding ceremony? This is a huge honour and it’ll be incredibly meaningful asking someone so special to you to be a part of your happily ever after.
You don’t have to stick to tradition, so if you want your mum to walk you down the aisle, ask her! She will love being by your side as you make your way towards your hubby-to-be.
Speaking of untraditional, who says your mum can’t give a speech during your wedding reception? We’re all about modern day wedding responsibilities and we’re sure that your mum would have lots of lovely things to say about you and your new life partner.
Include your mum in your ‘something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue’. Perhaps ask her to hand-stitch a blue heart into your wedding dress or wear the veil that she wore on her wedding day. You could borrow a brooch, locket or a sentimental piece of jewellery. That way, you’ll know your wonderful mother is with you every step of the way throughout your wedding day.
Happy Mother’s Day!
