Introducing Tinker’s Bells
Whether it’s tipis, yurts or marquees, we just can’t resist a fun and fabulous festival style wedding here at Save the Date Magazine. The furnished canvas bell tents by Tinker’s Bells are certainly no exception, and they’re an easy way to add that extra WOW factor to your wedding day. We spoke to the team behind Tinker’s Bells to find out a little more…
Tell us a little bit about your lovely business and where it all began?
Tinker’s Bells are a small Pop Up Bell Tent hire business offering affordable bespoke wedding, festival and event options formed by husband and wife Darren and Ali. Located on the outskirts of the Peak District and with an amazing backdrop of local tourist attractions, our discovery of Glamping and particularly of Bell Tents was brought about from years of attending festivals and planning our own wedding celebration nearly 10 years ago. Discovering unique local wedding and event suppliers, the rise in popularity of outdoor weddings saw us take the outdoor life by the horns and offer guest accommodation for like minded outdoor/festival goers who wanted to do it themselves on there big day!
What types of Bell Tent do you offer and how many do they sleep?
Our canvas Guest Bell Tents are a spacious 5m in size and can accommodate up to 5 guests inside each one. We also offer 3 options of Guest Packages: Luxury Guest Suite with Real Double Beds, Classic Suites with camp beds & air beds as well as a Basic Tent Only option. New for 2017/18 are our modern and fresh Bridal Suites! – Luxe Suite & Country Suite. Each have a Real Double Bed with bedding plus all the little extras from the bunting and lights to the coir floor matting, complimentary champagne and new white festival flags! Other options of tent we can provide include 6m Bell Tents as well as the spacious Emperor Tents for both accommodation upgrades and to be used as separate use spaces ie. Children’s Tent, Chill Out Tent and Pamper Tents.
Do you offer any Bell Tent packages for weddings?
If you’re unsure how many Bell Tents your will need early in your planning but do know you want to book a Bell Tent Village sooner rather than later, a great way to begin your planning is to book a Mini Guest Village of 10 x Classic Guest Tents plus the Bridal Suite for £1600! The great thing about this Mini Guest Village option is that each Classic Guest Tent is £160 – so 10 of these…. each accommodating up to 5 people, is £1600 therefore your Luxury Bridal Suite as part of the package is yours for free!
What would you say the benefits are to having your guests camp or should we say glamp at your wedding?
Having an outdoor wedding celebration means your day will probably turn into a weekend, and not only will guests not want to leave at the end of the day they’ll have the hassle of booking expensive taxis home, searching for a nearby hotel, deciding who the designated driver is or simply guests won’t relish the thought of having to jam a car full of old camping gear that’s used once a year along with a nice new dress or suit – so that’s where Tinker’s Bells come in! Pop Up Guest Accommodation with that little touch of glamour is the perfect solution for everyone. All your guests need to do is arrive on site and the Bell Tents will be pitched and ready for them to drop off any belongings and then waste no time enjoying the big celebration!
What do you feel makes your service and products stand out from the crowd?
Tinker’s Bells are now in our sixth Summer of providing Bell Tent accommodation for weddings and events and apart from our experience of working with a variety of Brides and Grooms, we learnt that moving forward with wedding trends and people’s expectations is very important. And of course all our customers have different ideas of what they want so providing a bespoke package and communicating positively and openly is important to us. Going the extra mile and providing those little extras are very important to us. We don’t necessarily shout about those little personal touches – but the feedback we get when people see our wedding festival flags or the complimentary waters/biscuits for all guests – we know everyone is appreciative and happy.
Do you offer anything else in addition to the above, such as hen weekends?
There’s lots of Brides out there who are looking for something different from a Hen Weekend experience, something relaxing and a little more unique. So the idea of stopping in our Bell Tents and sharing memories in the big outdoors while savouring some lovely group experiences with some little glamping treats is a must for everyone. This is where our ‘Hen Camp‘ comes in! Just over in Staffordshire at a special renovated farm house location and Bed & Breakfast called The Grange, we teamed up with hosts and owners Mick & Mary and invite guests to experience an amazing group glamping weekend! The site is exclusively available to a hen party with our Bell Tents each pitched on wooden decking in the newly planted wood and accessed via the meandering pathways. As well as the Bell Tents, which are decorated and furnished for up to 5 people in each, you’ll also come across what all great hen party weekends should have – a Wood Fired Hot Tub. So as the sun goes down imagine the fun our ladies have with a glass of prosecco in one hand, a hot tub to relax in and the company of friends and family! Mick & Mary at The Grange are really the Cream of the Crop for the Hen Camp! As your hosts not only do they have extra bedrooms available for guests who need a little extra comfort, Mick also provides the delights of the Luxury Cooked BBQ and Mary can tailor her food menu to your required needs – from a cooked breakfast to a sophisticated Afternoon Tea selection. Also onsite you have a lovely fire-pit area, a small communal space we call the ‘Den’ as well as access to a hot shower and real flushing toilets in the kitchen.
Tell us a little bit more about the Emperor Tents and how these can be used?
Our Emperor Tents are really a great way to use your imagination and offer something extra at a wedding or event for your guests or even yourself as the Bride/Groom. A Pamper Tent with tables, chairs, mirrors and of course the champagne on ice is perfect inside the more spacious Emperor. As a more spacious area than a bell tent this is ideal for the bridal party to either be able to escape to during the evening for a breather or to just check over your outfits and make up and freshen up away from those busy areas at your reception. Of course there’s really no restriction what you can do with an Emperor Tent, you can even turn it into a small Chill Out/ Children’s space with lots of soft furnishing – let your imagination run wild.
What do you love the most about being involved in the wonderful world of weddings?
We love meeting people who really love and enjoy planning the most important weekend of their lives! Especially when you meet someone who has some amazing DIY ideas for making their wedding unique and memorable and you can see the joy, excitement and energy they have.
Do you have any tips for couples who are planning a festival or outdoor wedding?
Try not to get overwhelmed! If you’ve chosen your perfect outdoor suppliers you’ve probably initially chosen them because you love what they do and you have every confidence in them. Let them take the stress out of your weekend. Festival / outdoor weddings often are a extension of you and your personality – you’re likely to be planning a relaxed, fun and even a less formal occasion, so if you’re hands on with decorating/planning/organising – go for it! Your guests will have so much fun and go away with some amazing memories. And of course that’s where Tinker’s Bells come in. We can help you turn a day celebration into a weekend of experiences for you and your guests. A Bell Tent village really will bring people together, new friends will be made and fun and laughter will be had late in to the night around the tents even when the celebrations are coming to an end.
Finally, what trends do you see for 2017/2018?
Each year outdoor wedding celebrations are getting both bigger and more personal as event suppliers become more accessible. 2017 will see us pitch our Bell Tents alongside everything from fairground rides to acrobats and performers inside mini circus tents. Trends for pop-up glamping on a similar scale are becoming more accessible to brides and grooms. And finally where shabby chic was once on everyone’s lips when it came to dressing inside Bell Tents and reception venues, already more modern and colourful trends of asymmetrical shapes on bedding and furniture are appearing inside bell tents! We love colours so we wholeheartedly approve of the fresh interior looks appearing at wedding venues alongside the abundance of amazing outdoor food and drink suppliers.
