Weddings are getting quirkier and quirkier and we at Save the Date love seeing what weird and wonderful products and services are coming next; so many creative people out there and weddings gives them the perfect outlet to unleash their creativity and really go to town when it comes to creating a talking point for a bride and groom’s big day.
That’s where businesses like Heidi the Van come in to play; simple, rustic and unique. This would get all your guests nudging each other on your wedding and sure to go down a storm … let’s find out some more;
Tell us a little bit about your unique catering business and quirky Food Trucks
Heidi the Van started three years ago; it was love at first sight for co-owner Nick Jennings when he saw a little Citroen H-Van for sale. We painted the van green, named her Heidi and our culinary adventures began…
We cater for a wide range of events with weddings being one of our favourites!
What kind of catering do you offer?
Our speciality is British and European street food – taking inspiration from the delicious dishes our continent has to offer. We source much of our produce locally to ensure our guests get exceptional flavour and quality every time.
Heidi is most popular for wedding evening bookings as our approach is very relaxed and informal with food to help keep the celebrations going ‘till late! Midnight munchies are also a popular option – as is our hearty fresh breakfast for the morning after.
What do you feel makes your service stand out from the crowd?
Heidi is a pretty lady if we do say so ourselves! Her vintage style is a super popular choice with couples aiming for a vintage look or for weddings with a festival theme.
Our street food menu is topped with a charming and fun service to round off a complete experience for guests.
How would it work if someone hired you for their wedding? What happens if it rains?
We’re a sociable bunch so we like to meet couples face-to-face to talk through what they want from a caterer – from likes and dislikes to guest numbers and location.
Of course, our favourite part is deciding what menu they want to offer and going through some taster dishes. We have a range of awesome items to choose from or we can create something completely bespoke for the bride and groom.
And if it rains? Heidi, rather conveniently, comes with four wheels so we can drive right up to the marquee, tipi or building so your guests don’t have to make a dash in the downpour! We also have a selection of large gazebos and umbrellas to keep everyone dry.
What’s the best way to get in touch with you to discuss an upcoming wedding or event?
Any way you like! We’re available on email at firstname.lastname@example.org, on the phone at 07727 198018 or through Heidi’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/heidithevan.
What do you love the most about being involved in the wonderful world of weddings?
What’s not to love! Every wedding we’ve been to has been absolutely amazing – the atmosphere is always second to none and we’re chuffed to bits to have been chosen to be part of the couple’s special day.
Finally, what’s the most popular choice of burger & pizza topping?!
That’s a tough one. I think for a burger it has to be our Great British Beef Burger, cooked to perfection with melted Swiss cheese oozing over the top of it, piled high with crispy bacon, pickled gherkins and relish. All served in a toasted brioche bun. Yum!
For the veggies out there our Heavenly Halloumi Burger is a super popular addition to the menu this year; grilled halloumi stacked with sautéed courgettes, peppers and onions, finished with a delicious drizzle of honey.
From our pizza menu I think the favourite has to be The Meat One – buffalo mozzarella with Parma ham, pepperoni and salami. Hand-made on the day from fresh dough and cooked in our wood-fired pizza ovens.
