I thee Wed – The White Island!
We at Save the Date Magazine LOVE Ibiza. In fact, it’s an annual ritual that we both head out there with our seperate groups and soak up the Ibiza way of life. It’s just got something about it. Amazing scenery, fantastic beaches, beautiful hotels, a chilled out vibe and above all, lots and lots of sunshine. If I were to get married abroad, Ibiza would most definitely be on my hit list.
So, today folks, we’re going to momentarily take you away from the dreary British weather on this cloudy Wednesday and transport you to the sun soaked Mediterranean island of Ibiza with an incredibly styled wedding by the talented Leah Lyons.
Where and when did you get married?
We tied the knot in Ibiza at a stunning boutique hotel near to San Carlos on the east of the island! The hotel was named the Can Talaias and it was beautiful in every sense of the word… Would recommend it to anybody. Absolutely fantastic.
What made you decide on your venue?
Our wedding planner, Leah Lyons from Your Wedding Angel, showed us the Can Talaias and straight away we fell in love with place. I went over the summer before and saw that even the gorgeous photos don’t do it any justice!! My husband hadn’t seen the venue until 2 days before the big day and to be honest, you don’t NEED to see it… Just check out the website. The people working at the hotel and external suppliers were incredible, couldn’t have asked for a more perfect place!! And for us, it’s all about the sun being out, it makes everybody happier and you can’t rely on the great British weather!!
What was it like choosing your dress and had you always had your heart set on that style?
Choosing my dress was so much fun! I had no idea what I wanted so I went in completely open minded! I tried all different styles from fishtail, meringue, Grecian to mine. I didn’t have the “this is the one” moment but I loved the dress and more importantly I felt comfortable.
Talk us through the theme and decor of the wedding
We went with a cornflower blue and white vintage theme to our wedding. The venue didn’t really need any decoration as it already so beautiful but we still put some awesome touches to it. Leah helped with the direction and we had paper lanterns hanging in trees around the terrace, candles to highlight the beauty of the place, gem sparkles hanging from the trees, flower petals scattered around tables with a simple centre piece of blue hydrangeas in a glass vase, they looked amazing.
Anything quirky and creative we should know about your wedding?
There were so many things that were quirky about the wedding day, and everything fell in line so nicely. We wanted to the day to be personal, romantic and to reflect us as a couple. After the gorgeous ceremony (and lots of tears) we led our guests to the pool area by the terrace where we had a Spanish guitarist playing some subtle background music.
Eat Ibiza were the catering company we used and again they were fantastic, we had champagne, sangria and immense canapés by the pool with our 40 guests. A lovely idea, if you have a smaller intimate wedding, is to write letters to each individual person sharing your day to explain how much they mean to you and also some funny/personal message… It went down a treat!!
Right then, think we’ll just have to succumb and pack our cases now! Whose with us!? What an amazing wedding. Big thanks to Leah Lyons for sharing her couples’ special day with us.
