I thee Wed – Laura & Brook
On today’s I thee Wed, we introduce the wedding of Laura and Brook. This wedding was shared with us by the award winning wedding planning Joy from Unique Wedding Planning who coordinated this beautiful classic affair! We now hand you over to Laura to tell you more…..
We got married at St Marie’s Catholic Cathedral followed by a marquee on my brothers garden. We needed a large church for our 180 guests and you can’t get any more beautiful than St Marie’s. We chose a marquee to accommodate all our guests but to also keep the day relaxed without being told exactly where we must be at what time.
Although our venues were quite grand I’d describe our style as simple elegance. I’m a believer that sometimes less is more.
My dress was a strapless, heavy lace, fish tail, with a very long train. I tried on other dresses that I could have worn that we’re completely different style. This had a large bow on the back and fickle or not that sold it for me! I also wore a cathedral veil in church.
I think one of things people are still talking about after our wedding is the marquee venue, we were very lucky to have such beautiful views over the moors from my brothers garden. Another is the fact a Dominos pizza delivery man turned up at 9pm to drop off 50 large pizzas for the evening buffet (they were gone within 20 mins!). This was a brilliant decision & not as expensive as some other evening catering options for that many guests.
Do what you want, don’t take too much advise of others (especially family members) as everyone has their own ideas of what a ‘perfect’ wedding should look and be like. Stick to what you like & you shouldn’t be disappointed on the day.
Although our day was very relaxed and fun, everyone commented on how smoothly it ran. That wasn’t by chance, I made sure everything was organised & thought of. Because we had a marquee on private land, having a wedding planner for the day to organise everything made sure it all ran to time & plan. It also meant I could switch off from the organising & enjoy the day.
Most importantly enjoy every second from organising to the day itself, too many brides get far too stressed!
