I thee wed – Helen and Adrian (Bay)

I thee wed – Helen and Adrian (Bay)

For this weeks ‘I thee Wed’, we’ve adopted a slightly different angle, with the words coming direct from the photographer rather than the bride. It’s great to listen to an account from the side of the photographer and understand their perspective and boy, what a great wedding to focus on. Traditional, classic yet stylish and chic, here Becky from Butterworth Photography tells us all about the recent wedding of Helen and Adrian (known as Bay):

Myself and my husband (we work together as Butterworth Photography) will look back at the wedding of the new Mr & Mrs Curtis with very fond memories. All weddings are very unique to us, yet this one was to be very special as I was totally connected to their choice of wedding venue and how much it meant to Helen.

Helen and Adrian ‘Bay’ live in Richmond Yorkshire however Helen was born, lived and studied in Nottingham for many years before that. I met up with Helen on a few occasions on her trips back to Nottingham and she told me how her marriage at the local church to her parents home in Bramcote, Nottingham and the celebrations afterwards at Nottingham University were key in her wedding plans as they both played a huge part in her life. This made me connect to their wedding immediately, as their church is just some ten minutes walk from my home and the University brings back many happy memories of Sunday walks and duck feeding.

After meeting Helen the night before the wedding to catch up on the finer details, I left her exuding excitement and looking incredibly radiant – an English rose as I described t0 Neil, my husband.

When I next saw Helen it was the morning of her big day, she was sat with the professional and tender hands of Liz a close family friend who had been hairdresser to now all of the 3 ‘Goldie’ girls. At this point Helen was looking more like a hair double for Bet Lynch as I walked in during the serious back combing stages! It wasn’t long after that Helen was helped by mum and Liz (plus a foot stool) to help her get into her dress, then her veil carefully placed, she was all set to meet her man …. and ready well on time!!

Meanwhile Neil had met up with ‘the guys’ at a local hotel. They all headed together over to the church and were later then to be met by ‘mini best man’.  The ceremony was very personal to Helen & Bay and the church was bursting with family, friends, neighbours and many other well wishers, just proving what a beautiful couple they are!

After the ceremony, I followed Helen and Bay to take some shots from the other side of the lake to their reception room of the University and Neil headed off to capture some of the guests arriving at the venue.  From then on, we both captured the celebrations, grabbing some quiet time with Helen and Bay at small intervals to get some ‘just the two of you’ time.

The last capture of the night was Helen & Bay with their first dance, which always seems to be the ‘wow we did it moment’. Just an incredible day.

Wow, seems pretty incredible Becky! And thank you so much for sharing this day with us.
