I thee Wed – Amy and Tim

Amy and Tim married on Saturday 12th June at St Michael’s Church in Bramcote, before holding their wedding breakfast and evening reception at Shottle Hall. Very close friends of mine and Abbi’s, I was really upset to be missing their big day (I was on honeymoon) and so when Amy sent through the pictures, I was really exicited to see her looking so gorgeous on her special day and Tim looking so dappa in his suit! Having known them both separately before they got together, I have watched them go from flirting, to dating, to moving in together and managed to miss the biggest step of all – them tying the knot! However, I’ve heard from Amy, Abbi and our other friends about how fantastic it was and here we bring you a snap shot of images from the day as well as an account from the lovely Amy herself:

Our family church is where the ceremony was held and this meant a lot to  us and felt very special. Having visited lots of venues around the East Midlands, we fell in love with Shottle Hall. With an intimate, not too big, wedding planned, we decided to hold our wedding breakfast in the Orangery within the main house itself, rather than the larger Coach House Marquee. A stunning room with fabulous views across the Derbyshire countryside, we knew it would be just the perfect place to hold our big day.  We had full use of the Hall’s many reception rooms, along with all the bedrooms, and loved the fact that it made it all feel very exclusive!

Our cake was by Layers Cakes with the cute topper designed bespoke by Green and Stock. My hubby (!) Tim is a graphic designer and so he worked his magic on our printwork and designed a fantastic, contemporary style for all our invitations which followed through to the name place cards and menus , table plan, order of service etc.

We had initially booked a VW camper van to take us to church and me and Tim to Shottle Hall, however, it broke down on the way to church with Tim and his brother inside! It was a little bit disappointing, however, Tim’s dad had just bought a new car and we managed to be chauffeured around in this which was great! Little hiccups like this happen on wedding days and we just got on with it and luckily, this didn’t really cause a big problem for us.  (Tip: read and double check all your suppliers terms and conditions beforehand!)

My dress was by Essence of Australia at New Bride, Nottingham. I was so pleased with the final ‘look’ of the dress and felt it suited my figure and style just perfectly , I felt like a proper princess!  My bridesmaid dresses were also from there and I was also really pleased with these – my girls looked fab!

My florist and photographer were both excellent and worked closely with us to make sure the end results were exactly as we had planned and joined us for planning meetings/rehearsals at the venue and church. (From my event managers point of view it was important to know they’d already had a look around the venues and knew about lighting, access, etc!!)

My brother is  a professional musician and I just knew that his band would entertain our guests in the evening and they didn’t disappoint.  Their mix of motown, funk and soul classics  kept people up on the dancefloor all night and all our guests had such a great time. I just wish we could do it all over again now!

Anyone else planning their wedding at the gorgeous Shottle Hall? If so, I hope it’s as lovely as Amy and Tim’s 🙂

Big thanks to Amy for sharing her special day with us and for her fab advice!
