I thee wed – Abi & Neil
This Wednesday’s ‘I thee Wed’ is a fabulous fusion of colours. Bright, vivacious colours really do inject so much personality into a wedding and looks especially effective when the sun is shining. Here, Abi tells us all about her big day with the super gorgeous photography by the talented Tom Handbury:
We wanted a welcoming vintage feel where all of our friends and family could relax and enjoy the day and we really did find we could not get Shottle out of our heads, such a gorgeous gorgeous house.
I hadn’t actually ever thought about what dress I would go for, although after trying a few designs I knew what suited me and I fell in love with the elegant gown and the girls at precious bridal rooms in Chesterfield, they really made me feel part of their ‘family’ and helped me adapt the dress to make it unique to me and it ticked all the boxes. I knew from the start that I didn’t want plain bridesmaid dresses so went for lemon yellow with different coloured sash and matching shoes in spring colours, also coordinating the groom parties socks to match!
The theme of our wedding was laid back vintage, although I really wanted it to feel like we had prepared for a home made wedding at the drop of a hat, I wanted it to feel like it hadn’t taken me months to collect the tea cups from charity shops but that we had them readily available in our cupboards, and that the flowers had been handpicked from the garden that morning.
We decided on homemade wedding cakes, and invited friends & family to make us all sorts of different cakes for the day, then my mum & I iced our actual wedding cake which was the one we cut on the big day. We also had a photo booth style dress up box where everyone could get involved and have a laugh.
As we had close relatives that are no longer with us we wanted them to be a part of the day too so the groom wore his Granddads watch and I had my Grandmas watch around my bouquet stem the whole day.
Huge thanks to Abi for such lovely words and to Tom for the stunning pictures.
Hope you all have a bright, sunshine filled day 🙂
