Hanging Floral Centrepieces ~ the new chandelier!

Today’s blog post is all about flowers… more specifically hanging flowers. Now I know what you’re thinking, hanging flowers? Do you mean those hanging baskets which decorate the front of houses?

No, I’m talking about a very modern, different and creative way to incorporate flowers into your wedding styling.  This wedding trend has been creeping into the market for some time now and we have picked out some of our favourites for you to swoon over!

From suspended boxes and hoops to hanging household items and completely covered ceilings. There are lots of ways to do this trend!

A simple idea is to use a box to have your flowers hang from, and dangle over the edges. As you can see from the pictures the hanging box works well suspended from the ceiling above tables that are the same shape as the box you use.

You could go a step further by turning your hanging flower decorations into a sign. This would be a great idea when it comes to naming/numbering your tables at the reception. Have the name or number floating above the table in all it’s floral delight – quite difficult to miss too!

If you don’t like rectangles, or they won’t work with your plans, you could go for any shape.

If the hanging flowers just aren’t a big enough wow factor for you, why not incorporate lighting, such as a chandelier. Why not have a chandelier coming out of the centre of a ring of flowers – as if chandeliers weren’t fancy enough you went and added flowers!

If all these designs seem a bit too extravagant then don’t worry, you can still do hanging flowers that are more subtle and not a big feature. Use everyday objects like light bulbs or antique frames and add a bunch of flowers on to them and string them up from a tree or frame – it’s as simple as peas!

Or… if the previous designs weren’t extravagant enough for you, why not decorate the entire ceiling of your venue with flowers – just completely jungle-ify it! Plants that have dozens of small flowers that spiral to a point would be ideal to hang from the ceiling.

Our florist directory is full of brilliant, innovative florist’s that are up to date with trends and will be able to create any style of hanging flowers you desire. Click here to have a look!
