Girly Gossip – Planning a Vintage Hen Do
Going along our regular contributor theme, the lovely Cat of Hen Heaven will be providing hints and tips every fortnight for girly get togethers. Focusing mainly on hen weekends, she will provide a fortnightly dosage of inspiration for you and your girlies to prepare for your big day …. and today, she begins with creating a vintage themed hen weekend:
“Vintage isn’t new (obviously!) but we’ve noticed that the vintage craze has spread across a lot of different sectors. The fashion scene, beauty (vintage hair and make-up is very popular right now) and of course the wedding and hen party industry. Now we’ve seen some great examples of vintage themed weddings over the years, however it’s only been recently that hens have caught on to the concept of “vintage hen do’s.”
Makes sense though if you think about it: if you’re having a vintage themed wedding then why not have a vintage hen do? Problem is what activities could you do on girly, vintage hen do that everybody would enjoy? Well you could all get dressed up (in vintage of course!) and have a tea party! There are plenty of places that offer afternoon tea services complete with cakes and pastries – The Ritz in London being one of the most famous or you could break out the Wedgewood and set up your very own tea party at home!
However, if you fancy something a bit racier… you and your hens could always dress up and go for some cheeky Burlesque lessons (anything that’s going to help us master the art of dancing in heels can’t be a bad thing!) Not only will you learn seduction techniques to make men swoon, you’ll also have a right giggle learning all the naughty moves with your best girls!
Although if that sounds too active for you then booking a decadent chocolate making class or cupcakes, always goes down a treat! O.K… we know it’s not technically vintage (O.K so it’s not really vintage at all) but look at it this way – chocolate has long been bringing women (and men) across the world happiness and pleasure. So (as far as we’re concerned) does it really matter that it’s not (technically) vintage? We think not!”
So, what are you waiting for? Get the girls together or forward the link on to your bridesmaids so they can get planning! There are lots more ideas on Hen Heaven too. Cat will also be back two weeks today with more hen party ideas!
I can also highly recommend afternoon tea at the Ritz . I went last week with my sister for her 30th Birthday, it was such a fab experience and the cakes were to die for!
Staying with the vintage theme, you could also look at hiring out the fabulous Darcy (a vintage caravan) from Cheryl at the Vintage Glamour Days.
Cheryl recently brought Darcy along to the Wedding Event with a Difference (the pic above featuring our lovely catwalk models) and I have since fallen in love with vintage caravans! You can hire out Darcy and have you very own vintage tea party!
