So if you fancy something different and unique for your wedding, look no further than The Rustic Crust. These guys know a thing or two about crowd-pleasing catering that will leave your mouth watering. Their wood-fired proper pizza is the perfect feast, and you can even create your own bespoke menu for your big day. We’re having a natter with the team so that you can find out more…
So, tell us a little bit about The Rustic Crust. How did it all begin and what do you offer couples?
The Rustic Crust with their converted Land Rover defender ‘Poppy’ provide mobile wood fired pizza catering for any type of event and are based in the East Midlands. We have over 12 years pizza making experience and have been mobile with our food truck for the last 4 years. We have over 150 satisfied wedding couples who have voted us into the regional wedding industry award finals for the last 2 years
Very soon after we first set up our mobile food truck we saw the trend in wedding catering was moving from the more formal sit down, silver service to a less formal, more relaxed festival style. Our quality of product and confidence that we could deliver on someone’s special day meant that with the high demand for food tucks and pop up kitchens we were well placed to lead this area of the industry. Each year we have grown in the confidence not only of our pizza but in the delivery of the service we offer.
How would you describe the style and ethos of your food?
To provide the highest quality Neapolitan style, hand pushed pizza with an equal quality in customer service from start to finish.
What is your most popular choice of pizza?
I think that our homemade spicy Italian sausage is the pizza we sell the most of. But as far as taste I think our goats cheese, chilli flakes and fresh honey is the one that surprises customers and guests. The 3 ingredients are perfectly matched for any dish. Salty, sweet and hot. A lovely well balanced pizza.
What makes your service / food stand out from the crowd?
Wedding budgets may be fixed but the quality of wood-fired pizza and service differ greatly. We pride ourselves in both!
With over 150 satisfied couples who have voted us into the regional wedding industry award finals for the last 2 years. At The Rustic Crust we offer our future brides and grooms a free pizza samples at any of our public events, to taste the quality and meet the team before they book.
Unlike lots of other pizza companies we never use bought in dough or use dough rollers at The Rustic Crust we have 12 years pizza making experience. ALL our dough is made by us in the true Neapolitan style (no sugar or oil) and hand pushed / tossed fresh to order.
We found that offering a self-serve buffet style works really well. Guests can be fed quickly and have the option of toppings and amounts they wish. As all our pizzas are made fresh any dietary requirements can be met quickly and with ease.
Do you offer packages for weddings?
We offer lots of different packages to suit the exact needs of the couple. From a fresh, classic Neapolitan pizza service to a beautifully styled bespoke wedding feast. We ask the bride and groom to work with us to create their own unique menu that will delight and impress guests. Including fresh homemade salads and coleslaw through to full wedding breakfasts that include pasta salads, meat platters and indulgent wedding cheese towers.
Couples are able to visit our website, fill in a simple contact / request form and within a few days ( if their date is available) have an individual free quote based on their venue, guest numbers and distance. It couldn’t be simpler.
What are the most commonly questions asked by brides & grooms?
Q. Do you need electricity point and hot water?
Who would be your dream client?
I think the dream client would be one that has lots of hungry, friendly guests.
What are your predictions of trends in your industry for 2019/2020?
I think the trend towards a less formal style of wedding will continue. Tipis, street food and straw bales will continue to be in fashion and a continue to offer a more relaxed day for both wedding couples and their guests.
Saying this we have seen in the last year that couples are realising that less formal doesn’t mean ‘less’ quality. We started as being seen as an evening food alternative to the ‘disco buffet’. We are now being asked to provide a full day, bespoke wedding catering. Couples are realising that even in a less formal environment or setting that high quality and service doesn’t have to be compromised.
What do you love the most about being involved in the wonderful world of weddings?
Simple – Watching clients faces when they see Poppy the pizza truck in ribbons and bows and then try our pizza.
