This epic setting features stylish tipis and yurts all with cosy wood burning stoves, handmade furniture, feather down duvets and beautiful views. It’s the ultimate rustic luxury. We’re having a natter with the team so delve in and find out more about Scaldersitch Farm…
Tell us a little bit about Scaldersitch Farm and how it all began?
Secret Cloud House Holidays began in 2011, formed by a love of the outdoors and an aspiration to create something different. From a hotel background, I opened three yurts as a way of diversifying the farm. Now, here in 2019 we have our two locations offering both yurts and tipis. The boutique styled tipis opened in 2018 to offer something even more unique to the glamping market. Our values have continued through the business- outdoor luxury, the use of quirky local producers and guest experience is key.
Tell us about the accommodation at Scaldersitch Farm! What types of yurts and tipis do you have to offer?
Scaldersitch Farm is a small, exclusive site offering just 2 yurts and 3 tipis- each with their own wood fired hot tub just outside and views across the Peak District National Park. The tipis offer 3 different styles. Whispering Trees is tucked in the most private corner and offers stunning views all around, inside it has quirky teak root furniture, faux fur throws and a cosy wood burning stove. Hygge Tipi is filled with aspects of Scandinavian style from Scandi scatter cushions to white sheepskin rugs, comfy armchairs, candlelight and even a book on the Hygge Concept to read by the fire. The Hartington Tipi oozes country sophistication with British wool blankets, tartan armchairs and rustic beds. All tipis have a wood burner, USB charging sockets, Nespresso machine and table and chairs to dine both inside and out. Woodpecker and Cuckoo are traditional canvas yurts, both with handmade beds, rustic furniture, wood burners and tea and coffee making facilities. Clear skylights mean you can lie in bed and look at the stars above. For hen parties we offer an exclusive use of the site- allowing a group of 18 to 25 to book the whole site just for themselves.
What sort of facilities are available?
All accommodation has its own tea and coffee making facilities, charging sockets, indoor and outdoor seating, log burner, wood fired hot tub. Inside the Old Cartshed Barn we have cutlery, plates, glasses, pans and so on for up to 30 guests. Large fridge freezer spaces, central dining table (perfect for dining and for workshops!) a rustic bar space, gas hobs, toaster, dishwasher and so on.
On site groups can book extra activities from archery to duck herding, life drawing, on site spa treatments in our wellness room, cocktail making, outside caterers, wood fired pizza oven, flower crown making….the list is endless!
Do you have available packages for hen parties?

We then allow groups to choose from the diverse list of suppliers, caterers and things to do in the area to create their perfect weekend
Are there lots of activities in the area for hens to take part in?
Absolutely yes, we have so many suppliers in this area from outdoor pursuits on the Roaches, watersports at Tittiesworth or Carsington Water, fabulous pub walks from the farm gate, local craft and pottery workshops and so on.
What do you feel makes your service and products stand out from the crowd?
Our business has grown by offering real luxury in an outdoor setting, many locations can call themselves ‘glamping’ however some don’t even have wood burners inside their accommodation. We know that even on a hot summers day, the nights can be a little cool so what could be better than a flickering fire and a cosy bed dressed with feather down to snuggle into after a busy day. We are on hand throughout your weekend- preparing hot tubs, lighting camp fires. We work with you to tailor your perfect weekend- whatever the weather.
What do you love the most about being involved in the wonderful world of weddings?
We love to meet the bride to be and her friends, and its amazing to see the effort that is put in to create a magical weekend. It’s great to see guests having fun and enjoying the location and something different. Many brides return to us with their new husbands to experience glamping as a couple too- its so romantic.
