Sarah Salotti Photography is currently adding the finishing touches to a new look website bringing it up to date with the shifting sands of online presence. The passion and love of what we do has remained but the look, feel and usability has changed. As a creative you can never stay still and hopefully this freshening up of the website will better show our creative and contemporary approach. Being a self-employed wedding photographer involves you in so much more than simply shooting weddings.

Getting to know Sarah Salotti

The word self-employed is also a bit misleading. Although we work under the name of Sarah Salotti Photography, it isn’t just me. As the business has evolved we have increasingly developed into a team of two: myself and my husband, Marco. We were both photographers when we married in 2004, and have been working together, capturing incredible wedding stories since 2009. We have a special understanding when it comes to shooting and this supports our unique documentary style. No two people will ever photograph in the same way but we work from one vision ͚weddings are one of those unique life events that deserve special treatment, careful handling and lots of creative energy͛ . Two artistic minds, two sets of eyes and of course with Marco on board the groom’s preparations get as much attention as the beautiful bride. Without undermining our emphasis on the bride, we appreciate that male grooming has come a long way in recent years and have always felt it has been a bit overlooked. Photography has been around for about 180 years, wedding photography for nearly just as long! In our fast paced, image saturated world, the photograph is still worth a thousand words; that first anxious look between bride and groom, dad wiping a tear away, the comical antics of children all made permanent. Moments captured that will last a lifetime. It’s amazing to be part of that.

Sarah and Marco were our eyes; they captured moments we don’t even remember, they captured moments we actually didn’t see, they captured moments which appear to be too quick for the human eye! They captured moments so discretely and spontaneously and we see an array of amazingly stylish art and talent because of this.”

Of course, the thing that unites all wedding days is the fact that they fly by! One of our favourite aspects of the day is pulling the bride and groom away from the maddening crowd for some quiet time. This gives a couple a chance to breath, re-connect and allows us an opportunity to capture photographically that special bond that exists between them.

They captured our day and helped us to relive it again through their professional eyes, sharp lenses and warm hearts.” Josette & Andreas, Birmingham, November 2016.

The relationship we build with the bride and groom is really important to us. Our photography takes place right in that creative space between candid documentary style and contemporary lifestyle wedding portraiture. We aim to make sure that the couple get an amazing record of their day as it unfolds but also provide some really memorable and stylish portraits that the bride and groom will treasure forever. Despite living in a world of selfies, we never assume that being photographed is normal. For this reason we offer a complimentary pre wedding shoot to help build a relationship and to make the act of being photographed feel much more natural and comfortable. These shoots are light hearted, relaxed and at a location the couple are familiar with. They offer a great chance to talk about the day and for us to get to know each other.

We can sit in one, five, eight, twelve years and look back on one of the most amazingly special days of our lives and feel blessed to have amazing pictures to keep our memories alive so we can tell our story.
Josette & Andreas, Birmingham, November 2016.

We are going to end with a shameless pitch. Working as a pair also offers a bit of company when we shoot weddings outside the region and our work in the last couple of years has taken us to; Scotland, Cornwall, London, the North West and Norfolk. Of course with a surname like “Salotti” our dream destination wedding would have to be Italy. Perfectly suited to Marco’s family background and our favourite food and wine. Any takers?
