Exhibitors Exposed

Round up, round up – we’ve got more exhibitors exposed for you on this sunny Monday morning. And guess what, once again, they’re all pretty fabulous and they’ll all be there at the Wedding Event with a Difference:

Who are you and what do you do?

I am the founder and owner of Meringue, a small, exclusive wedding dress label and boutique with a huge heart! Based in the heart of Lincoln, we offer brides to be a gorgeous ‘Boutique’ collection of custom made wedding dresses as well as an exquisite bespoke design service
If you weren’t doing what you are, what do you think you would you be doing?

As well as getting very excited by beautiful design, gorgeous fabrics and sparkly trims . . . I also have a bit of a weakness for flowers and chocolate so had I not been lucky enough to design wedding dresses for a brides big day perhaps I would instead be designing bouquets and table centres or creating handmade truffles for guests!

If you could have any bride in the world as your client (celebrity or not, married or not), who would it be? And why?

There is nothing more special than creating a dream dress for someone close to you then getting to share their big day with them and I’ve been lucky
enough to have the opportunity to do that for some of my best friends during the last couple of years. Of course I would love to design for one or two gorgeous celebrities, however it’s more of a thrill to work with brides to be who are not accustomed to wearing designer clothes or having bespoke
garments created for them as it’s such a magical experience for them.

What are you most looking forward to at the wedding event with a difference?

I’m already really excited about being part of such a fabulous selection of home-grown suppliers, and am especially looking forward to showcasing some brand new designs from this seasons brand new ’boutique’ wedding dress collection

Who are you and what do you do?

Rachael and Ian, the husband and wife team behind Rachael Connerton Photography.  We capture a couple in love, simply having the time of their lives on their wedding day.

We believe in beautiful images and elegant presentation, but, above all, making sure the happy couple have fun along the way.

If you weren’t doing what you are, what do you think you would you be doing?

Rachael – I love beautiful design and am particularly passionate about all things interiors (as Ian will testify, I have a bit of an obsession with chair design and cushions!). So if it wasn’t for my love of photography, I’d probably indulge my love of interior design.

Ian – Other than trying to escape from a barricade of chairs and cushions, I’d love to do something that brings together people’s passion for music, films, and books.  Somewhere to discover new music, lose hours browsing the shelves, or watch favourite films on summer evenings on a homemade screen in the garden.

If you could have any bride in the world as your client (celebrity or not, married or not), who would it be? And why?

Audrey Tatou at a spring wedding in Paris (one of Rachael’s favourite actresses along with one of our favourite cities). The stunning architecture combined with the pure romance of the location would be sure to get the creative juices flowing!

What are you most looking forward to at the wedding event with a difference?

‘Save the Date’ always attracts absolutely lovely brides and grooms; we’re really looking forward to having lots of fun meeting and chatting to them about their exciting wedding story so far.

We always enjoy doing something a little bit different and the last event was no ordinary wedding fair. We both loved the pure creative buzz in the air – Save the Date did a fabulous job organising it. The Roundhouse with its quirkiness and unusual architecture adds to the completely unique feel and we can’t wait to be involved again!

Who are you and what do you do?
My name is Karen Lake and I’m a professional jazz singer. I sing the gorgeous songs of the fabulous jazz divas of the past such as Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Peggy Lee, with a nod to some of my favourite contemporary artists such as Madeleine Peyroux. I sing with some excellent musicians throughout the North and the East Midlands in all sizes of bands, from intimate duos through to a swing band. I’ve sung at some beautiful venues all around the country. Castles in the snow, moonlit summer gardens, elegant country house hotels – it’s been a magical experience so far! I feel privileged to sing at lots of weddings – it’s amazing to be a part of a couple’s special day and to feel such a big, and included, part of so many happy shared memories. I love seeing people enjoy their event and it’s great when everyone relaxes and allow themselves to let go after so much careful planning! There’s no other feeling as good as becoming completely lost in a song’s moving lyrics or soulful tune – the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, there’s an amazing synchronisation with my fellow musicians as we go with the music as one, and seeing the smiling faces around me as we become an unconscious harmonious part of the whole event is just fantastic! If you weren’t doing what you are, what do you think you would you be doing? I love creating things so would love to work in crafts of some sort – jewellery, furniture, pictures you name it. I’ve dabbled in the past so who knows what the future holds? Of course I’d be singing to myself whilst I worked 🙂

If you could perform for anyone in the world, who would it be?

Probably my grandad as a young man. My mum says he used to perform the songs I do now – would have been great fun to do a duet with him!

What are you most looking forward to at the wedding event with a difference?
I’m expecting to meet some lovely couples who have some very interesting wedding themes planned and will be excited to hear all about them!
