DIY Fortnightly Friday!
It is finally Friday and time to have a few days of R&R – this week has been one of the busiest for little ol’ Save the Date Magazine – all good fun though 🙂
So, to get the weekend off to a fabulous start, we have a DIY tutorial with Chloe Adlington …. over to you my lovely!
DIY Wedding Veil
I took my newly engaged sister wedding dress shopping a few weeks ago. It was the first time she’d ever put one on and to watch her face light up as the veil was added to complete her look was extra special.
Which got me thinking… I’ve made lots of fascinators and a birdcage veil in the past but why not have a go at making a full on veil?!
So here’s my DIY wedding veil tutorial, minus any sewing! TOP TIP – it would look gorgeous with a few crystals, lace or fabric flowers sewn on!
To make this you will need… approximately 1 meter of netting, a hair comb, pinking scissors, a small length of elastic and some strong glue (I used my mini glue gun!)
Cut the netting into long,1-inch wide strips with your pinking scissors (to prevent the edges from fraying). Then start by simply tying them in a knot around the elastic in the middle of each strip…
Repeat until you’re happy with your veil’s fullness, scrunching the knots together as you go to build thickness!
Now thread the ends of your elastic through each of the end prongs on the comb…
And glue into place on each side of the comb to secure the elastic…
Once the glue is dry you can enjoy wearing it, down the aisle, on your hen do, to clean the house… whatever 😉
