Winter may have arrived but we're still dreaming about far-flung, exotic locations...
We LOVE Grace & Mitch and these travel-loving photographers know a thing or two about destination weddings. They've captured love stories across the globe and over the years have discovered what it takes to pull off a sunshine-filled (or snowy) celebration. So, without further ado here are Grace & Mitch's three top tips for planning an EPIC destination wedding, along with some of our favourite snaps from their portfolio...
If you’re getting married outside abroad in a hot country, have your ceremony later in the day, most destination wedding ceremonies are at around 4/5pm so that your guests don’t have to be sat out in the heat of the midday sun! Also make sure you keep your guests & yourselves well hydrated with lots of easy access to water & refreshments. Lots of couples also invest in fans for their guests which are often laid out on their chairs in the ceremony ready for their arrival, in order to keep them cool throughout the ceremony & rest of the day.
If you’re getting married abroad, fingers crossed you’ll get the treat of some lovely golden sunset light! Search on google what time the sun will be setting on your wedding day in your wedding location & then make sure you keep the 30 mins before the sunsets (which is when the best golden light is) free/flexible in your wedding day schedule to be able to pop off briefly with your photographer for some dreamy sunset photos!
One of the best things about having a wedding abroad is that it’s no longer just a one day celebration – you can now spend a whole weekend or week with your loved ones celebrating! Think welcome BBQ/pizza party, pool parties, day trips, DIY pub quiz, boat trips – the list goes on! You get to extend the celebrations further than just the wedding day itself & spend lots of quality time with your loved ones who have travelled so far to celebrate with you.
