| CHATTING WITH | The Kedleston
During these tricky times, one of the most affected industries has to have been weddings and venues in particular. Here, we chat with Olivia over at The Kedleston Country House to discuss what it’s been like and how they are looking forward to welcoming weddings again.
How has the current situation surrounding Covid-19 impacted you as a wedding venue?
As a wedding venue, the majority of our large-scale weddings unfortunately had to be postponed. However we have been thrilled to recently be able to host a few private Wedding Breakfasts with a maximum capacity of 30 people.
How did you deal with the postponement of any 2020 weddings that were directly affected?
The initial change in circumstance at the beginning of lockdown was, understandably, distressing for our couples and we felt a huge responsibility to put their mind at ease and ensure their special day could still go ahead in the way that they had always imagined.
For any weddings booked between Spring and Autumn, we worked closely with our couples to move their wedding to an alternative date either later in the year, or in 2021, and of course we’ll be monitoring the situation for Winter weddings too.
We want to assure couples that we are simply a phone call or email away if they need any help in rearranging their suppliers, or any other way we can ensure that their plans come together.
How will you be dealing with new wedding enquiries?
During the lockdown period, we were unable to facilitate show arounds and face-to-face meetings, so we filmed a virtual venue tour that would give couples the opportunity to see the venue space and envisage how it could look for their own wedding day. This is still readily available on our website for anyone who isn’t comfortable with a viewing in person. For anyone that does wish to book a viewing, we have increased social distancing measures and offer hand sanitisers at various stations around the venue.
If you’re newly engaged and looking to start your wedding plans soon, we sincerely hope that this period of uncertainty hasn’t made you wary of starting your planning process. We have procedures in place to ensure that, if your wedding day is affected, alternative plans can be put into motion.
When will weddings return to normal?
At this time, no one can be certain of anything, but we have put plenty of measures in place to ensure we’re fully flexible. We want to provide couples with the confidence that we will do everything within our power to ensure that they will have the wedding of their dreams.
We still have limited availability for 2021, with midweek discounts available. If you’d like to enquire about hosting your wedding with us, please email email@example.com
