A Bride’s Journal | Katie & Lewis | Part Two |

We introduced you to the lovely Katie & Lewis back in January (you can read part one right here), and we’re having a good old chat with Katie to find out how she’s getting on planning her wedding day. Katie had been busy dreaming about a wedding that was romantic and relaxed with an abundance of wild blooms – sounds gorgeous, doesn’t it?! We can’t wait to catch up with Katie to find out all about her wedding planning journey…

Hello and thank for coming back to read my second instalment of my bride-to-be journey! With just under 3 months to go, I’ve managed to tick off a lot of things, but of course it still feels like there is tonnes to do.

So usually a colour scheme is something that would be decided quite early on. But not for us! We have always known we wanted to keep the colour palette quite subtle. Lots of fresh greenery and white flowers with a gentle pop of colour.

Picking that gentle pop of colour hasn’t been easy! We were quite open to what this colour would be, so we wanted to find a bridesmaid dress first that everyone was happy with, rather than being tied to a certain colour because of our colour scheme. I have literally only just sorted the bridesmaid dresses this month, hence the colour scheme delay.

It turns out the colour we have gone for is a colour we had NEVER even considered. We have gone for a cool blue colour.

With it being a Summer wedding, we have always been set on blue suits. But never thought that would be the colour of the bridesmaids too. Lewis has worn dark coloured suits for years to work, so he wanted to wear something a bit different. The bridesmaid dresses are much lighter than the boys’ suits so they don’t clash. Together, along with the style of flowers we are going for, it really will all look so summery.

We will be decorating the venue with lots of fresh greenery and handmade signage. I like to get quite creative so have been making lots of signs for directions, quotes and general decoration. We are hoping my handmade items will add a personal touch to our popular wedding venue.

So far I would say I have been quite a laidback bride. I have found the journey enjoyable and quite stress-free. If things haven’t gone our way, we haven’t been too disheartened and have just accepted things. I am just hoping these aren’t my famous last words and the next 3 months become completely stressful and I turn into a bridezilla!

So for our big day I don’t have a maid of honour, but I do have 4 wonderful bridesmaids. These include my sister and three best friends from school. I feel so lucky to still be best friends with my school friends, we are all still really close.

I asked my besties to be my bridesmaids at our wedding venue. I had booked in to show them around and asked them with a personalised box with a bottle of gin and a cute decoration. I waited until we got to the bridal dressing room (the room we will be getting ready in on the day). Thankfully, they said yes and it was all very exciting!

I don’t know where I will be going for my hen party as it is all a surprise! All I know is the dates I will be away. I will be finding out where I am going on the morning we leave, so it will be a proper surprise! I haven’t even been told what to pack yet! Literally, all my friends and family know where I am going so I am surprised no one has let it slip yet! Can’t bloody wait 😀

Thanks for reading about our journey so far, Katie x
